I pondered for awhile when I got the email. I went with Diabolo since I have TDR already Banshee is a sweet machine but.... Its to new for me and Diabolo has US parts distributor now so that sealed the deal. I don't think comparing it to TDR is to fair because Banshee has some very unique features like the head damping being on the main shaft and the tail geometry maximize so shaft is as short as can be. Maybe down the road but still now one even knows how they plan to support this beast if they are even around that long. To lazy to read whole thread so if I am repeating sorry..

This shouldn't be a buyers remorse situation. If you are worried about the prudence of spending this on a heli that probably is an indicator that you might want to wait off. BTW I'm not getting in line for a number of reasons. It doesn't press my buttons and it seems too expensive for a pilot with my abilities as well as the company being new and my unwillingness to buy a first production run of anything.

I doubt I would have buyers remorse. Unless they go out of business and I have a pretty display piece or a bunch of pretty display pieces in a box I emailed them over a year ago to get on the list so you could say that I want it!

There was only 50 scorpion motors and a limited number in the others. Then they made more.
Lets face it, banshee is now a business they will make money, they already put the time in weather or not they sold them to public. If there is high demand, then another 50 and so on. Im not getting one as there is no way to guarantee its exclusiveness |

Got the mail too. A bit disappointed about the order process, but it don't matter after all. Decided to remain on the fence...
If there will only be 50 made ever, for how long will you be able to get parts for it? Don't think most Banshee's will crash very often, given the cost of the kit. Wonder what the prices on spares will be like? Logic suggests that there will be more than the initial 50 produced at some point, in my opinion.

I agree. If they only made 50, how long could they supply spares? 1 year? It's a losing battle. Besides only making 50 with titanium etc, they probably are not making much money at all. Unless they own there own Cnc etc from some other business venture. I would guess if they are going to make a go of it, then there will be more banshees.

Just checking out the specs. This thing is light! A sub 10 pound all up weight is easily obtainable. Hmm

I don't care if there are 50 or 500, same as I don't care about the number of TDRs sold. I don't buy it for the exclusivity, just because there is nothing like it around at the moment. Looks like a great design with amazing quality and great flight characteristics. Ugly canopy but it kind of grows on you, I didn't like the TDR when I first saw it, now I love it. We'll see what the price is first, and if I hit the button I hope to be among the lucky 50.

Yep, more compact and less friction.
Seems the price is still up in the air...German forums speculate price to be €2-3k. This heli is turning into a $6.7k project at the lower end and we're talking just shy of $8k after shipping, taxes and what not at the upper end. Man I've bought a Perazzi shotgun for less than that! |
