See this thread for some information. I will be adding to it soon.
People are using the C05 motor (myself) or the HP05 motor.
For the ESC the XP-7A is a popular choice which I will be using.

CX2Pilot has the info you need, I just have a personal comment.

I had to laugh a little when I saw you had the TheSteve and are now looking for what to connect it to.

You started out knowing more than I when I started down the route of developing a BL build.

CX2Pilot can attest to that based on the panicked PMs he got from me on the subject.

I had received all the other components that I had ordered and then when trying to figure out how to put it all together THEN realized I needed the TheSteve!

The story of my life, 'So soon old and so late smart.'

Good luck with your build though and if you have any connection problems or anything like that, there's another thread you might be interested in, Mini-CP / HP-5S / XP-7A /TheSteves build that although the thread is geared toward the Mini, the schematic shown in the image applies equally to the Genius as well.

Actually, there is hidden in the description a way to make the same exact build work for both without having to change anything or even solder anything to the RX.
