Mini brain 2 and jeti
I've been inadvertently running sbus through the Jeti on the mini brain 2 and wanted to switch to UDI. I'm using an R4L and I have the signal wire on CH5 and the +- on ch3 as shown in the brain manual. The rx is bound to the tx but for some reason I'm not getting any communication to the brain. I'm using the same cable as I used with the sbus setup. Not sure if my channel settings on the brain or jeti are correct. Can someone help please?

I've gone over wiring three times and I'm getting no response from the transmitter setup screen. Reset the brain and created an entirely new model in the jeti. This time I left the channels in the software and changed them in the jeti but they still match.
I'm at a loss. It's as if the brainless doesn't want to accept UDI

Did you change the receiver settings in your R4L to UDI?
You do that through the Jeti TX. I believe through the device explorer menu. |

You want to use port 3 (bind) on that rx not port 4 which is what the Jeti udi output pin y4 is indicated, that's incorrect as the labels are wrong.

I hear some of those receivers are mis-labeled. Bind port on ch 3 or some such nonsense.

Ive done all of that yes. For some reason, when I had Sbus selected in the brain software and UDI in the jeti it worked fine when all three wires were in CH3. From what I think it should pretty much be plug and play; set UDI 10ms in jeti, plug JR cable in pin 3 on the R4L, select HOTT in the brain, signal wire to CH5 on the brain, +- on Ch3. Even if the servo channels arent correct I should still get something on the TX setup screen right??
I know this isnt a defective receiver as it was taken of an Oxy I sold a few weeks ago running UDI on a Spartan. Plus the TX recognizes it as a UDI signal. Just doesnt seem like its communicating with the brain now

You probably did, but I'm not reading it. You did split the cable from the receiver to run the signal wire to the middle pin of 4-5-6? The brain diagram that shows in the software can be hard to read on a small screen. Whether your R4L is mislabeled or not, the same receiver port set for SBUS is what you use when setting UDI. It has to be set in the receiver via device explorer. Channel order can be set either in the receiver via device explorer or transmitter.
I just finished my P 380 and UDI worked correctly first time. Dan

Might be a long shot, but if you haven't already, you might try doing a factory reset on the Brain and start fresh.

Some people are saying the Brain has trouble saving changes. One solution was to select different tabs before disconnecting. I'd guess that the brain factory reset might be your ticket. Something went awry when changing protocols. Dan

Yea, tried that twice and also created a new model in the jeti

I've tried that as well. It's saving the receiver type no problem.

One more thought-there's UDI12 and UDI16. UDI12 is what these FBLs are looking for. Again, you seem to have done everything I would have done. Just fishing.

I've put the brain back to sbus and put the standard JR 3 wire back into channel 3 and what do you know...worked like the time before I tried to change it. I think the fbl may be defective :/

Somewhere in all the Jeti literature/threads, there was a statement that 12 channel was for heli's and 16 was for drones. Maybe because a number of FBLs can't decode the 16 channel data stream?
