Default Main gear crown sliding down on one way bearing on FAIFA

Hi all !

I'm very happy with my Srimok FAIFA but yesterday i've had a little problem :
The aluminium main gear case slide down on the one way bearing (2 mm)...
So the main gear crown (with the main gear case) is down and touch on is down side the frame !!!
Do you have seen that before ?

I don't know how the one way bearing is block in the main gear case, mine was assembled by kasama.
I will disassemble them end reassemble, but must i use loctite 638 or 648 or other ?

Thanks

First time I see or hear of this happening.
I guess you'll need to disassemble the main gear case, pop the OW bearing completely out, clean the surfaces and apply some bearing retaining compound (648 I beleive it is) then push the bearing back in.
Should not be too difficul.

Thanks !

That what i was thinking to do. But i was thinking too maybe that the OW bearing was forced in the main gear case (hot main case--cold OWB). In a brand new kit OWB is already installed in the main gear case so don't know how they mount it !

It's a strange issue cause my FAIFA run very smooth without vibration (Vbar vibration analyser confirm that) in flight, all was well.

It's not a so big problem but i did not think it could happen !

The response of Gavin from Kasama :

"Hi Stephan,

This can happen sometimes but I don't see it often. Caused by slightly oversize housing internal diameter. You can use Locktite 609 green colour ( retaining compound for bearings ) Try and wick some in between the bearing and the case. Then tap it back in with a hammer. Not a big problem but if the case is hot after a flight it means it is slipping.

Kindest Regards

Gavin Broadbent "

The bearings are normally mounted into the hub with a press so I guess the hub was machined a tad oversize - we're talking hundredths of a mm here so I think Gavin's advice is good - you even use green Loctite as these bearings never break and the chances of having to remove one in the future are negligible.

Thanks John !

I've used Loctite 603 (i had it in my loctite stock) which is similar than 609 to remount the OWB with a press yesterday and Srimok fly well today !

I love it !
