Any port other than the sys port can supply power.

i was surprised by how easy it was to update. The only thing i had to do was restart my computer after it found the driver for the usb programmer. Then run the updater.

I got a DX8 a few weeks ago and instantly put all my planks on it since they are easy to setup. But...............I've been still taking my DX7 to the field for the 450pro and fusion 50 which both use MB. I've been too lazy to re-program them on the new radio.

Well it looks like the MB is getting updated to v3 and going on the DX8 finally since you have to re-set up after the update!

This is for Windows

1. Download the updater and 2.0 software(.zip).
2. Install the updater.
3. Goto: Start/All Programs/BeastX/Install Driver and follow instructions
4. Open Device Manager(Start/Right click My Computer/Properties/Hardware Tab/Device Manager Button), plug in the USB dongle. It should appear as follows:

5.Open the 2.0 firmware zip file and double click the BeastApp icon, select "open file", the updater will automatically open with the 2.0 file inserted into the "Update File" field.
6. Connect lead from USB dongle to BeastX SYS port paying attention to polarity.
7. Remove main blades from the blade holder and open them if they are folded. **After the unit has been updated it will initialize whether it sees a Tx signal or not.** Power on the BeastX, you do not need to wait for initialization, the updater only needs power to the unit to update.
8. Click the "Refresh" tab in the updater window. You will see the current version of your BeastX unit appear in the bottom field.
9. Click the "Start Update" tab. Are you sure? Yes
10. You have now updated your BeastX. Enjoy!

You WILL need to re-set up after installing this update.
Great instruction !! My MB is still in the box - not install to my 450 Pro yet. Can I update the firmware to V3 using your instruction ? Do I need extra power to MB or USB dongle provide power to MB's SYS port ?

Thanks,

Thanks,
The USB interface does not provide power. It must be supplied in one of the servo ports.

I must be a complete computer operator moron.... 90 minutes now trying to find the updater software at beastx to install so I can run the v3 software. Never used the usb interface before. I crammed it into my laptop and it finally got some drivers to make it happy through windows but no base program that I can find to run the v3 update or interface from.....

Well they don't make it simple.

You need to download and install the installer and have it recognize the USB first BEASTX Update Bundle WIN
Then you need to down load one of the files from the top of the page, that is the actual V3 software. I used
the third file from the top of the page - BeastApp with the .upd extension.

Use the install directions from the BeastX web site.

Hope this helps

Same page, one of the icons lower on the page labeled "BEASTX Update Bundle WIN" if you are using Windows.

Has anyone had any problem with the BEASTX Update Bundle WIN not having a driver for Win Server 2008 64bit? It shows up in the device manager, but no driver installed.

you should be able to manually install the one for win7 64bit.. but i cant imagine it is common. Why are you using server 08 for a desktop (or a server to update a beastx)?

I did finally get it to work. I had to get a driver from here. http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/P...CPDrivers.aspx Once that was installed it worked perfect.

I use Server 08 because it runs faster on older PC's with less ram. My laptop is kinda old and slow and Win 7 just boggs it down.
