Default Delrin Rods too long

Try to get this heli set up. It seems like the Delrin Rods are too long, they are as short as they are going to get.

I can lower the swash to get the blades at zero pitch but that on gives me a pitch range of 9 degrees due to bidding of the swash to the frame.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

AJ

I had the same issue, like so many others too for that matter. I shortened them by 2mm after which I had sufficient adjustment with the swash links to obtain a nice even +/- 12deg cyclic

By the way, your gonna love that bird I have a Goblin, Aeolus E50, KDS 450 amongst a few others and the Atom 500 is my favorite! It just behaves so well as has plenty of getup and go. I find 2850 head speed is ideal. I've the stretch kit on its way, do not sell your stretch kit, the difference is night and day so you may eventually want to go back to the stretch.

+1 just unscrew the ball link and cut it also cut the tube off a bit too.

Default For leaving delrin rods as standard and adding confusion

Hi

Have you taken all the adjustment out of the servo to swashplate rods.
I adjusted these and didn't have to shorten the delrin

I did used a standard swash leveller rather than the compas spacer device

I think some people have suggested that the distance you get when using this is wrong ie the swash end up too high which means you end up shortening the rods.

Seems OK to me, thus far, nothing hits anyway

Mostly OK

I used the compass swash level tool and with all adjustment taken out on the ball links, could not get an even cyclic without negative frame binding occuring, I think it was -9 and +12... or something similar. I never cut my ball links, only the upper end of the delrin rods by 2mm, I now have +/- 12deg cyclic and no binding.

I thought my rods were too long also however you need to make sure they are turned all the way in. Also make sure you are using the right swash balls.

Mine is one of the original Atom kits and two of the swash balls stick out further than the other two. If I don't use the longer swash balls the head goes +12 -9.

This is all using the swash tool as well.
