Default Gpro, how well does it actually fly?

I am curious as to whether anyone has got their hands on the new Gpro, set it up and actually flown with it.
Setup appears very similar to the Vbar leaving little room for error IMO. The proof will be in how well it flys in the hands of everyday ordinary flyers.

Well.... I've set up 2 Gpro's this weekend. One on a 700v2 and on a 800e Pro.
Only had about 5-6 flights on 700 so far.
On the stock settings it flies quite well. Had to fiddle a bit with the tail parameters to get the the feel right. No problems with tail kicks or anything, just didn't like the feel of it

I have the first ever testflight with stock settings on video. Can upload it if u want

Ok, here's the vid of my first test with the Gpro. Heli is a stock 700v2 ( 610-650 servos, ice 120, 700mx)

I set up a separate switch for gyro gain for testing (38%, 42% and 45%)
Most of the flight it was 42% if I remember correctly

Nice videos guys. I think the G Pro looks really solid and super stable returning to center/neutral.

MXracer- I love to see the 3GX alive and well on a bigger helicopter. Looks like you definitely have the system figured out. I had my headphones on watching your video and was loving the deep bass effect of those blades.. even at low rpm.

The Gpro so far, always looks very tight, crisp and centered. Beyond who is flying it... it just looks like the flight system is locked.

The Duncan O flying was super bad a$$ though. I loved the technical stuff. That 700 sounded like Darth Vaders light saber! The piro flipping while maintaining a funnel? Crazzzzzy skills.

Nice flying, control appears to be locked in from what I can see. Hopefully Align did it right this time, setup steps seem to be more precise and methodical (very Vbar like) which should make for more consistent and accurate performance.

In contrast to the 3GX which is a little hit and miss during setup and a few people are having problems, but when it and the heli are properly setup, the 3GX does fly nice though. (V3.0, 3.1, and 4.0 anyway....IMO)

I think this is a good demo of how crisp the Gpro is. A 12s 550 pushes the limits of what is physically possible within a flying disc.

*sends 3GX to Align headquarters and demands GPro for replacement*

Sorry, I'm just angry right now.

So, how much of an improvement is it over the 3gx? Those are very nice vids, but honestly, watching a good pilot fly a vbar and looks just about the same as the same person flying a 3gx. Kenny and Aan made that 3gx look great, whereas when I tried it, it was clearly inferior to a vbar or a sk540. About the trade in thing, I really do hope align will let us trade in our 3gx's for maybe a good discount on a gpro? Kinda like skookum's thing with the old sk720 trade in, and align's motor replacement policy?

Well.... my experience with the Gpro is that its easier to get it flying like you want to than the 3GX. I am no pro pilot by a long shot, but I have set up lots of different helis with everything from ZYX, 3G, 3GX, BeastX, Vortex vx1n, Vbar and even a FUBAR, hehe.

In my humble opinion the Gpro is a good controller that's very intuitive and easy to set up. The most "difficult" part for me was getting the tail locked in. Took me about 5-6 flights before I was happy.

Btw, the video i posted was the very first testflight just showing how the Gpro behaved "out of the box" with all parameters default. I hope to get some video of the tuned Gpro in action in the hands of a normal person this weekend.

I went ahead and took a gamble, purchased a Gpro. I installed it on my T-rex 600EFL Pro (non DFC) using a Castle BEC Pro set to 6.2 volts for power from a 2S 2200 Mah lipo.

Setup was fairly straight forward, although upgrading from a 3GX, I started from scratch with new model settings on my Futaba 10 CHG radio using a SBUS receiver.

Using all default settings, I felt it flew well. Initially, I used around 40% GY gain from the gyro menu of the transmitter, found that to be very "loose" on the tail. Eventually I found around 70-75% gain (on transmitter) seemed to lock tail down very nicely with no tendency to quiver in hover or FFF. I am assuming possibly most rudder gain is supposed to be tuned in the Gpro software? Using radio gain may just be a quick overall adjustment?

Overall it flew well IMHO, default settings work "right off the bench" although somewhat conservative (I am sure Align didn't want defaults to be crazy sensitive). It will readily liven up with a few points of adjustment in the Gpro software such as TAIL PIRO RATE (speed), FLIGHT RESPONSE etc.

After limited experience with the Gpro (a half dozen flights), I like it so far.... time to mess with it lately has been limited by family commitments (my son got married this weekend to a wonderful gal.... 2 down and 1 more to go as my daughter is getting married next summer)

Any one tested the Gpro with the spektrum Satellites ... is it safe to fly with the
Satellites or better to setup along with a Rx?
