Default Sanwa SD-10G new model?

Hi there,
looking to purchase an SD-10G soon as a treat for myself!
(currently using RDS8000)
I was wondering if an updated version was on the cards, perhaps with the likes of a backlit screen for instance, as I would hate to buy a new radio only to find that a new version was produced just after my purchase. It seems like a great radio, so perhaps those in the know could advise me.
Also any comments on ergonomics compared to the RDS8000 I am used to would be really appreciated, as I will probably buy online and not be able to check this before hand.
Thanks in anticipation guys,
Eric.

Default SD=10G new model

helibelly
I too have an SD-10G as well as the RDS-8000. I have quite a few Airtronics radios.
I purchased my SD-10G in December of 2010 only to then discover that there was a problem with it and had to send it in for updating. Of course there was no charge for this update. But, nonetheless it sure was annoying, time consuming and disappointing.
Unfortunately Airtronics/Hobby People(USA) is like most other Mfg's. You don't hear squat
until the product hits the market. You could check out the Airtronics web site. But I doubt
you will find any mention of updates/upgrades to the SD-10.
As to the ergonomics compared to the RDS8000. The SD is much heavier. And of course there are a LOT switches, whistles and bells. But overall, I find it a great radio for the price. The programming and features are user friendly. I'm quite satisfied with it.
I hope this is of some small help.
Regards

Hi Lamar, thanks for your reply. After (much, much more!) Google searching I managed to find out that a new model, the SD-10G Super is in the works! I have no idea when it will be available, and its not in Sanwa's 2012 catalogue. I am not sure whether to wait until its available or not now? But I was never any good at making decisions...

You can have a Super right now. I've been flying two of them for 2 years now. All it is is a complete compliment of switches and and added VR pot.

Hi TMoore,
so you are saying that you added the extra switches and pot to your SD-10Gs, basically making it the same spec. as the Super variant ( appart from the different case, which doesn't matter to me anyway )?
Thanks for the info,
Eric.

Looking at the pic from a google search it looks like the same case only in black. Are there any other differences between the two?

I have made an executive decision, and ordered an SD 10G last night as a ( very ) early birthday present for myself. Should be fun!
