Default Binding issue with satellites

I bought a brand new Spektrum 7010 receiver setup before I knew the 3GX can run only dual satellites. I bound the transmitter with the lone satellite but the 3GX required a double reset every time i powered it up... whitch was tolerable during the initial setup. Since then I have purchased another satellite (SPM9545). After plugging it in, I have not had the single satellite error come back, but the new satellite does not show its connected. Now with both plugged in, I can't rebind the TX/RX. The instructions did say that I had to have two of the same satellites, but I'm not sure how to find a specific version. I don't want to buy another receiver combo.

I did purchase an (ahem) eBay satellite , perhaps its too old for the dsmX satellite from the new 7010?

Hi Omega WS6

The 7010 is the newer version DSMX.
The SPM9545 is the older version DSM2
The DSMX has an "X" on the face of the receiver the other does not.

To be on the safe side I would not mix the two, and by your post sounds like it does not work anyway.

You can buy just the Satellites you don't need to buy the receiver as well.
The new satellites are available on Ebay

Ah ha! I I knew it had something to do with the DSMX/DSM2 issue, but couldn't find a part number for the satellite from the 7010. Bonehead me didn't think to Google DSMX satellite.

Thank you very much... a. SPM9645 satellite is on its way as we speak

Did you have any luck with this?

I have a DSX9 Limited, DSMX.

Trying to bind to a 3GX with 2x AR8000 DSM2 Satellites & not having any luck.
I thought DSMX was back compatible with DSM2 satellites, just that it would bind to DSM2 mode not DSMX mode.

I tried with a DSM2 DX7 & it bound no worries, just won't work with my DSX9.

I hooked up the same satellites to AR8000's & they bound fine to my DSX9, so it's a 3GX compatibility issue.

Thanks Align!

Which leads me to the question of:

Is anyone successfully running a DSX9/X9503 (DSMX version) on a 3GX with DSMX satellites in DSMX mode?
I don't want to rush out & buy 2x DSMX satellites in case the 3GX isn't DSMX compatible.

I run 2x DSMX sats on my 3GX and it works but will show on your TX that they are in DSM mode as the 3GX is not yet DSMX capable.

The DSX9 Tx doesn't display what mode it binds in but no doubt it will be DSM2.

I found my answer anyway.
I connected a DSMX sat off my 550e to the 3GX & it bound up fine so I'll be buying 2 new DSMX sats.

It seems that the DSM2 sats cannot "tell" the Tx to revert to DSM2 mode via the 3GX.

ok. The DX8 tells you which mode it binds in.

Happy you found your answer
