Default Nitro tuning: throttle curves needed

Hi guys, recently picked up a Trex 600N and has a fresh YS .56 with the three needle carb.
New to nitros , so have been reading a lot of posts and watching some tuning videos.
In using a Tim Jones style of tuning for a basic tune, he uses full throttle maneuver to set the high end.
Then goes full pitch/throttle quickly to neutral/hover and adjusts the midrange.
So question: what type of throttle curves should be used to hit these transition throttle openings?

If Im running a 100-90-100 IU2 throttle, it wouldn't really get off the high end area, would it?
How low would the throttle curve center need to drop before the midrange needle would come into effect? 100-80-100..100-70-100?

Kinda over thinking it IMO. Just fly it and listen to the motor in relation to each of the 5 point positions. If you pop the collective off of center stick and it winds down... add throttle at the mid high stick position. Aside from judging RPM loss.. you're also just tuning how you want it to "feel".

Do some full collective moves whatever they may be... listen to the motor and adjust the throttle for the high stick position. You should be able to hammer high stick in FFF and not bog the motor down. But your pitch is just as critical as your throttle.

I think the magic is the relationship between the V curve and the pitch curve. Just the right amount of each.. to make a sweet collective. Pitch can screw up your stable RPM as much or more than lack of throttle can. Big pitch does not mean big performance.

That being said... nitros sound a lot healthier on a governor. The governor will pin it wide open if it needs to... whereas your V curve is harder to get that kind of throttle range.

The air/fuel ratio is tuned at the different RPMs within the engines powerband. In relation to the motor rpms. Not the headspeed. So if its spitting and burping in its midrange... then you tune if from there.

+1 on "Use a governor"

Whatever FBL gyro you are using should have a gov built in. Use it.

It is like not using a tail rotor gyro.
You could fly it without the TR gyro, but why would you do that?
