Default What are you guys using for batteries?

The batteries are the final thing I need to finish my 700C. I don't know if I should be getting one of the 12s sticks, or just 2 separate 6s packs so I can also fly them in my 550E. What are you guys using and how is it working out for you? I was two seconds away from ordering one of the long Pulse packs, but then figured I would ask. Also, is the 65c really worth the extra money over the 45c?

I like the 12S sticks myself. Once the battery is mounted to the tray and you have everything balanced and assembled it's not worth breaking it down to put in another heli. I just have two packs for each heli and a good field charging setup and can fly back to back all day long with two helis. I use the 45C because they are lighter, cheaper and seem to have plenty of power.

45c is plenty, even Bert uses the 45c.

2 pulse 5000/5500 packs at 45C for me. Use the 5500s in my 700 and the 5000s in my 500/700.

45C if fine. Pulse Ultra stick packs. Gecko tape mod.. if the C doesn't have a tray system.... And connect like this to ESC.

Why wouldn't the competition have a battery tray system?

Buy the KDE Battery tray assembly, worth every dollar!. I have the KDE in both helis Goblin 700v1 and Goblin 700c... and I can share the tray's between 3 helis, 700v1,700c and trex 700DFC.

The tray that comes with the comp. models is pretty nice, imo it would be a waste to upgrade it as it works great. I like to get the cg perfect via battery position and then shrink wrap everytbing together as the manual recommends. It would not be very convenient to have to tear it down for any other heli.

+1, way better than the SAB tray. Easiest / most reliable battery tray system I've ever used.

Agreed! Kde all the way. Tried the rest, comparably they sucked. One thing I did do with my Kde is to mod the forward try clip by rounding it off and removing appx 1.5mm off it. So now my trays release easily and lock without having to slam them. Another benefit is the tray ties the frame together and eliminated a ton of frame flex.

I have tried an assortment of battery brands. My fav's are the HK A spec nano's followed by the Pulse brand.

Running two 6s (12s) Pulse Ultra 65c 5500 mah on my 770. I'm also using a 2s Pulse Ultra 3600 mah RX pack for the electronics.

I would go for two 6s packs if I were you. Stick packs are slightly more convenient to load, but being able to share packs with your 550 outweighs that IMO. Also, if you happen to crash and destroy a pack, it's easier to swap out a 6s pack than to cut open the stick pack to salvage one.

+1 on the KDE tray...

I would definitely run 2 separate packs. Stick packs are a bad idea... No sharing, and if one goes, that's it.

As far as brands go I run pulse 7s 4500. I have to say, I have had well over 20 different pulse lipos and they have always been good to me and have held up to my abuse...
