Default Helicommand Rigid mounting location

I have some issues with position mode. I was wondering if my mounting location is the appropriate place to put the unit or should I move it further aft towards the tail to get more motion on it. I don't believe that it can see the skids and I've measure the minimums... The gyro gain is down to about ± 45 (according to the software) before it stops wagging so I am not sure if there is an issue. The thing seems to chase it's tail one way in reverse when it is in position mode... Maybe need to play with the settings more? Horizontal mode auto trimmed perfect.

I'll probably try out the FBL next. As you can see, it's on a trex 500 and I am using an AR7100 and DX7.

I am using the helicommand gyro as the active gyro and would like to keep it and have not really had the chance to go high speed. If anyone is out there that has the software, I can upload that or place a link to it on my server if you wanted to see my settings. Thanks!

That's exactly where I located my HeliCommand on my 450 and it worked fine in all modes. I soon got fed up with position mode though and never bothered to cut an access hole in my Hughes 500 fuselage. The fun with scale helicopters for me is seeing them cruise round with smooth, banked aileron turns.

My HeliCommand has now been upgraded to the rigid version and installed in a Hirobo Lama with 3-blade head (not flown yet). I still won't bother with position mode though.
