Default CopterX FBL unit

Here's a flight from the weekend with my FBL B400 with the CX-3X1000. After about 10 tuning flights I'm really happy with the CopterX FBL unit. Not as good as the BeastX but awesome for the money. Headspeed is somewhere around 2800-2900 rpm.

Had my old blade converted to a permanent night rig. It was just standing collecting dust, so I thought it deserves to fly again

Nice smooth flight man. The insects are a pain when you fly.

WOW.. That was a few near crashes...
Probably a bent tail shaft or something with the tail blade grips.
That will give you that tail shake up and down. Could also be a totaled tailshaft bearing.

She flies great after getting rid of those tail vibrations (removed the $50 MicroHeli CNC Delrin gears and replaced them with $12 stock E-Flite gears).

Semi-Stock Blade 400:

Futaba GY401 Gyro,
EFlite DS76T Tail Servo (From Blade 450),
HobbyWing 40A Pentium ESC with 3A Switching BEC,
CF horizontal & tail fins,
CF main blades,
Boca bearings in EFlite 420 motor.

Default Low RPMs with Active Freewheeling

I removed this heli from storage and decided it was time to revisit low and slow ...

I put a YEP 45A ESC (Governor On and Active Freewheeling On) on this 'ol heli to see how she handles at low (50%) throttle ... Not too bad - Even in wind! I like being able to hear the blades.

Need to get an optical tach soon to get some actual RPM readings. I'll see how she inverts at the field ....

Blade 400 - Low RPMs (6 min 40 sec)

Why? 10 minute flights, cool blade sounds, un-intimidating trainer flights, obstacle practice in the backyard, reduced wear and tear on old parts, low temps on motor, esc, battery, cuz I can, etc.

-John

Nice flying John, glad to see another 400 flying. I have 5 flybar heli's, Sr, the 400, 500's and a flybar-less a 600 Blade X which is a very nice machine.

You really didn't have much room, I worried that you were going to hit the tree along the side of your house.

Thanks Wattflyer - yes not much room I know. Even more reason for lower head speeds and a tamer heli

My helis are all older and have flybars too
