Default Phoenix ICE 100 or 75

Looking on Castle's website recommended ESCs list (http://www.castlecreations.com/support/helisetups.html) it seems like they recommend both for the Align 500 depending on motor. For ~$13 more on Amazon you can get the 100A and have room to grow, is there any reason not to get the 100? I haven't looked at the size or placement, but just wanted to know what others are doing...

The 75 amp is plenty for the 500. I dont see any need for the 100.

75A is more then enough If you are not going to use 5S battery.
Mine rarely exceeds 40A on tough evalutions.

The 500 will yank around 90 amps on hard flights, but that's just for a fraction of a second... look at the average... 17 the 75 is plenty, the 100 is the same size, it just has bigger wires so it is heavier...

It's 17 grams more. If you fly hard, you'll never notice that and it'll be worth the added insurance. Besides, if you get a 550 some day, you could use it on that.

Definitely go with the 75. More than enough for the 500. That's what I'm running and love it.

Either way will be fine personally I go a touch bigger. Ice lite 100a. No heatsink so lighter there and lots of overhead.
