Default Trex 500 Gear Alignment

I installed the I2RC Boom Mount and the alignment is off. The old mount was OK. Any ideas on what the challenge is and how to fix it?

Thanks HF!

I checked mine last night, and the gears are lined up. Did you use any shims in that gear?

Did you use the spacer between your OWB and main gear?

meh....don't worry...its fine...just go fly it..

I have had Trex500s for years and years and only a few times, did the lower gears actually aligned well with the tail gears...even with the original gears and all! It's a hit and miss with them helis.

One thing I have noticed, it's actually getting worse with the newer models they come up.

The most recent Trex 500L its so bad it's scray....you should see how bad it is .it still flies good...don't worry

Kind regards

Alex

PS, no I do not forget to install shims, spacers and what not...they are simply badly sized!

BTW...this is my 500L, when it was brand new, with stock gears ...see how bad it is?

Has hundreds of flights...now runs a 90Amp Kobi at 3200 / 3300RPM HS, BK servos, Scorpion 1600KV motor, Spartan FBL 8.2V and nothing happens to it...just fly it...

Kind regards

Alex

The missalignement is not bad at all and is typical for the 500. Mine esp has it with all original parts.

Smile Thanks folks!

Thanks to all for the assurances that the mis-alignment can be a normal thing and I can fly.

I contacted Bob at I2RC and he said the CNC boom mount "should" also have a couple of washers in the bottom of the vertical gear/shaft in a normal setup.

I am going to check that also. I'll report what I find.

Well, these are small dish washers that sit back-to-back on the tail rotor gear in the CNC Boom Mount. Bob from I2RC was kind enough to provide a few and it made the difference. There seems to be a vertical pre-load provided by the double convex washers lifting the gear set and providing the alignment.

The i2 boom block should have come with two small "spring washers" that go below the tail drive gear if i remember correctly. I havn't disassembled mine in a while but can check tonight when i get home. Pretty sure my gear lines up correctly.

Either way, you look like you'll be fine as is.

Does the tail drive gear move up and down?

Looks like you got it. Enjoy the boom block, it's a work of art!
