Brushless conversion??
Anyone heard anything or have any ideas? I imagine it can be done basically the same as on the mcpx.... But what esc/motor to use? And where to put thesteve?

MCPX was much easier because it is just one motor. With the quad, you are dealing with four motors and thus a more complex brushless speed controller is needed.
Plus, the motor pods are different as well.

It'd look goofy as h@#$, but you could kit bash 4 mCP X frames and cut down main shafts for BL cages. That is, until someone makes dedicated mQX BL cages. Put the green canopies on the front, red on the back, yup, goffy as h*%#.

Lately I have very little time to dedicate to hobby.
I have verified that the Walkera 4G3 tail esc (or Helimax equivalent), directly connected to the gate of the power stage fet are perfect for the job, but I have to solve the mechanical |

I had thought about four MSR tails connected together coupled with the MQXs board for an even smaller quad.

well maybe not mcpx because its variable pitch. But if you took four msrx frames, and mounted it through the tail boom. Then did a brushless motor on them you might be in business. Just dont forget to run some counter clockwise and some clockwise. You need a fixed pitch system.

I was thinking of cutting away all the unnecessary and glue to a modified pod using the base that supports the 3 in 1. |

An mCPX frame extensively modified.
The motor is just for demonstration purposes. I ordered four M05. |

How many amp draw is the M05? Your probably going to want to run the 900 mAh battery as well. I would give this battery a shot http://www.helipal.com/storm-3-7v-90...5d4rneaucbh047

Probably I will have a reduced flight time, but hopefully always in the order of 7/8 minutes |

the stock mqx could probably be easily converted with 4 of these motors http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...or_11500kv.htm
same weight but a little wider at 10mm, They run 1 or 2s so you could reduce the prop size go 2s and run the board off the bec. Last edited by Griff1; 02-26-2012 at 09:37 AM.. |

Ok.
I have that motor. I don't find a way to use it on the stock frame. Instead the distance between the fixing holes is too small and forces to add something, such as a carbon base, to be able to be fixed to the mCP X frame. Furthermore, I believe that a good flybarless control also depends on how fast the motors are able to slow their speed. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think an outrunner slow down faster than an inrunner. |

When I read about brushless conversions for tail motors of larger models (HoneyBee FP, CP, Blade CP, etc.), I had read that inrunners could change speeds faster than outrunners. But this was a number of years back and for larger helicopters (more like 200 plus grams), so things may have changed.
