When I give rudder input the whole tail gear and shaft follows the command. Ideally I would expect the gear to remain centered and not move but there is maybe 1/3 mm play on both sides of gear you can move it back and forth with a screwdriver. I thought maybe one of the thrust washers might be missing but 82-5808 and 82-5804 are both correctly installed on both sides. 61-5134 is correctly installed on both sides. I just tried to move my 7HV tailcase gear and it appears to be correct with 0 lateral thrust. 6HV has been this way since I got it as has this tail kick I get as well. Is this amount of play normal in the tailcase or do I need to tear it apart and shim the play out to achieve 0 thrust? Thx Sent from my DROID3 using Tapatalk 2

sar,
Mine doesn't have any play at all. I have one brass and one silver washer/shim on each side of the pulley. You should shim out the play for sure. If an extra washer makes it too tight, then maybe substitute different types of washers being they have a different thickness. Let us know how this turns out. Sent from my phone

Well digging through everything I have trying to find something to make like a .7mm tailcase shim and tada I found this, perfect fit on tailshaft. Slightly modified looks like the thickness will be close may have to dremel some off....

Just make sure it doesn't contact both races of the tail case bearing. Unless you're going to use that one up against the pulley only.
Hope it works! :fingerscrossed:

Sounds like a good plan, this way you don't have to actually "disassemble" anything.

Ok here is update shot crummy phone pic but… I yanked the thin spacer and substituted my fabricated one and :bang
0 thrust belt looks perfect into boom fixing to bench test in a few. This is the stuff that keeps me excited about model helis the constant learning although I feel somewhat stupid that I didn't catch this float in the gearbox until now..... Sent from my DROID3 using Tapatalk 2

Nicely done Tom!
In another application (shimming reproduction standard gauge motor wheels), I have been able to find RC car shim washers that fit. Usually these have a fairly thin pattern. It's just a matter of finding the correct diameter. I would think there are some that would fit the tail shaft. Let us know how it works out, sir!

Good luck! And don't forget to put that one screw in the very back of the left side tail case.
