Default RTF Blade mCX with DX7 or other spectrum radio?

Hi everyone,

I own a Blade mCX RTF with transmitter and wondering if I can bind my DX7 with it? If so, will it involve much of a setup or just select airplane mode?

Thanks,

GP

You should be able to bind it to your DX7

That is why they sell it in a Bind-&-Fly version.

Yup. You can bind and fly the mCX with a DX7 without issue. I fly mine with a DX7 and didn't even have to do anything other then just bind. Works great.

I like the ability to get some positive expo on the channels so that its a bit quicker to react.

Hi,

Did you select the AIRPLANE or HELICOPTER mode? The Bind and Fly version manual states to select the AIRPLANE mode.

Thanks for the replies!

To backup what you guys stated, I was able to bind my DX7 (in airplane mode) with the RTF version of the mCX. The only thing that I modified on the DX7 was the timer (DOWN-T) set to 8 minutes and I renamed the selected model to BLADEmCX. It was a pleasure flying the mCX with the DX7.

Thanks for the help folks,

I like being able to use the programming on the DX7. The stock radio from the CX2 does not have any software based programming ability.

Hi,

Here's a quote from the bind and fly version manual, "Although in most cases your transmitter of choice will offer full and proper control of the Blade mCX BNF with ‘standard’ settings (standard airplane mode, servo reversing set to normal, travel adjustments set to 100%, etc.)".

These are the settings I used and it worked perfectly without doing anything else.

i found that the cx2 radio works much better than the stock radio, so i'd hope the dx7 is even better yet. i'll have to give it a try, and see. still makes me laugh. i could have 3 mcx for the cost of my dx7 glad i have other models on, and going on it.

Binding is usually accomplished with 550 cord, duct tape, or simply, velcro.

Just kidding. If you do not own the mCX yet, here is a link to the manual which is available on line.
Binding and other neat info is just 1.4 MB away

Link to the CX manual

Check on Page 26.

I hope the link to the manual works!

Hey no problem!

I'll do my best to summarize it.

Note: This is for the receivers which do not have a bind plug to tell the receiver to go into Bind Mode.

For Normal Operations
Transmitter is turned on first, wait 5 seconds or longer, Transmitter scans for and selects a pair of open frequencies
Connect battery on heli, Receiver looks for the GUID of the Transmitter

For Binding of Receiver to Transmitter
Connect battery on heli, Receiver sees no Transmitter, goes into Bind Mode signified by LED rapid flash
Press and Hold the Bind Button in, then turn on the Transmitter, continue holding the Bind Button in until after the Green LED on the Bind Button stops flashing

The receiver LED will stop flashing rapidly when the receiver has successfully bound to the transmitter, moving the sticks will make the servos, ESC respond. At this time both can be powered off.

To fly, power on the transmitter first, wait 5 seconds or longer, connect the battery on the heli.

I use a DX6i and bound it to my mCX in the heli mode. I set up a new model, called in Blade MC and set elevator sub trim to +20. That's it.
Binding instructions have been summarized above.
Mine flies great with my Tx.

Only thing is, with mine the LED never stopped flashing. So I cycled the power on the Tx and Rx and everything was fine.

I think if you had waited long enough, the LED would have quit flashing (about when the battery pack died.....)
