My Flybarless Blade 400 Pics
I figured I should probably post some pictures of my fbl converted 400 before I crash it. I used:
1 used Blade 400 from craigslist that I've been flying stock for a few years. 1 Tarot fbl head from cnc machine 1 Turnigy 3d-H V2 FBL system 1 set of align 450 links and balls to match the head to the stock swash plate (per other thread here, like step by step instructions, extremely hepful) 1 Turnigy 45 amp esc with governor (stock fried when motor died) 1 Turnigy Heli Drive SK3 motor (bearings exploded in stock motor) 3 T-Pro MG90s servos (metal gears but analog. Great cheap servo but I'd go digital if doing it again) 1 Align DS420 tail servo 1 set 335 3D PRO blades 1 set 62mm green plastic eflite blades 1 tail drive speed up pulley If anyone ever considers converting their old blade 400 to flybarless....DO IT!!! It flies SOOO much better now. I had it flying pretty well before, but it flies a lot closer to my larger heli's now. I wish I'd done it years ago.

That will definitely do the job, but I personally wouldn't spend that much money on a blade 400. I went with all cheap components because it's such an old (and discontinued) airframe and I already had a fbl unit for it. For the money you're spending there, I'd put that towards a Gaui X3. For the price of the conversion head alone you're almost halfway there. As far as blades, I don't think I'd spend that much on the eflite blades, I'd go for edges if you can still find them, or a set of rails.
But, like I said those components should make a nice heli. Good luck either way and don't forget to post pictures.

Very nice Aksport, great job on changing it over to FBL. I got a 400 a couple of months ago with some extra parts, extra frame, boom, gears ,belt and other stuff. Traded a plane for it, Had to put one bolt in the main shaft to get it flying, been flying it ever since. I might have to look into changing mine over. Never have done it . It surprised me at how responsive it is compared to my HK 450 seV2

Thanks. I went from not flying because I hate working on it and it flies like a flybar heli flies, to now I really enjoy it again. I flew it yesterday and had another servo crap out. I was able to land it and all is good but now I'm buying some digital servos. Another 60 bucks on a heli I didn't want to keep lol. It has made me want to get a better 450 size heli though. Looking at either a chase, warp or x3. Might have a 400 for sale cheap.
