Default My hopes

I sure hope this Protos is not a disappointment! I have always liked this model, like a small Euro sports coupe. LOL. I traded a very nice, very well-sorted 12S machine for it. I decided I needed a single pack bird back in my hangar, and the Protos and Logo 550SX were my short-list birds. I will, of course, own both, if not, perhaps eventually, and not so soon. The Protos is up first.

I'm sure you will,
You can fly it very conservative, low HS, very graceful , or open it up and smack the %^%$ out of it! Either way just looks at ya and says MORE!
LOL!
Honestly , 1 of the most reliable in the fleet and not a bank breaker when it goes in. Fly 2600-3300 batts . versatile.
Do not know why everyone doesnt have one,
It's a must have!

Just make sure that you ground the boom to the motor and fly it forever!
If I could only have one heli the P500 would be it!

I've run belt tails with boom grounds for some time now. Thanks for the tip. I assumed it would need a ground, especially with the additional belt friction of the main gear and motor added. One article I just read in this month's Model Aviation magazine indicated that belt lube is as important as a ground wire for eliminating static.

I am sure your aware but most people use a silicone lube for the belt, most common is the spray type, which can be applied by hand with a q-tip, or direct spray, outdoors with blades off and the motor running just above idle.

The next way is a less common, longer lasting and messier when flying if not conservative, and this is to rub a very thin layer of thick clear silicone grease, rc differential grease all around the belt.

Both alone will kill any harmful static...at least until it wears off 10-15 flights with spray 30-45 with grease, maybe more for either. Still ground your tail.
I started runing the conductive boom block, when a twisted belt wore off the silicone in 4 flights and gave me static problems.

MSH decided to go with mildly conductive parts rather than a ground kit. Havent run mine long enough to really comment, as I usually resume my belt at about 30 flights when the sheen of the lube starts to dull away in places.

I soak all my belts in 100% pure silicone spray. Usually first thing I do is put belt in small ziploc, spray bunch of silicone in, let it soak for couple days.
Quick wipe down before install, and never had a static problem, no ground either.

I've used the resealable bag with silicone trick as well. For re-application, I use the same silicone spray into a small mix cup, and brush it on the exterior of the belt, while running the belt along by hand. Seems to work fine.

I've lubed my belt once. I ran a wire from the boom to the motor mount and have not had a problem since. Don't even worry about it now.
