Dude your heli is quite heavy and you are effectively using a 3S 2000mah (i know you are running 6s) I also assume you are using fixed end points which again doesnt promote amazing flight times

Yes i am running fixed end points...

Do you mean that I should should fixed governor or change to flat throttle curves?

Nah im not saying you should run a governor, im just saying it would promote longer flight times. However, the outlay for an ESC with a decent governor is $85, so you must ask yourself if its not worth it to just buy another battery I also only get 6.5 minutes hovering with my 6S 1300mah leaving the cells at 3.77-3.85

Ok, I've switched to a 4S setup from a 6S setup. 6S appears to hold the rpms better, but on my heli (heavier because of heavier electronics, and it swings 350mm blades at the start), it only makes things heavier for me if I wanna stick with Hobbyking 6S 1300 mAhs, I like the weight and handling using 6S 1000mAhs.

So I'm letting go of my Hyperion 2221-1630 motor. Only 4 flights. I'm gonna have to ship it from Singapore ( it's not part of China, nor Taiwan, go Wiki....) . Please pm me. Original Box, maual and catalogs intact, just no esc connectors.

good luck on the 6S setups...

I suggest picking up a Castle Creations ICE 50 Lite ESC, Scorpion 2221-2010 v2 motor, and some Voltz 6S 1300mah LiPo's. You'll also need some bullet connectors for the motor to ESC connections. Other than that, you'll also have to keep in mind that some frame modification will probably be necessary in order to fit the LiPo under the canopy. That should about do it.

There are other options for the ESC, but they get much more expensive. The ICE 50 Lite is the cheapest option that has already proven itself with the 450 Pro 6S setup.

Joining the 6s club! I had my Align 550 esc laying so i figured id give the 6s setup a whirl using an align 1700kv motor and fixed end points. All I need is some batteries which should arrive anytime now. Here are a few pics...still need to do the battery tray mod. Can't wait to fly it.

Great post! I do want to add here though that if you inside mount the esc you may want to go with the heavier Ice50. Even with the smaller amperage being pulled with the 6s app through the lite it is still recommended for an outside frame mount high airflow mount. I use the 50s on all my 6s builds. I just cut the frame and mount them flat with the heat sync extending out both sides of the frame in the lower front of the base plate. Looks fantastic and helps balance out my helis since I run stretches on them. Plus they run cool!

The one mod I do to them is to add better capacitors, and I route and shorten the input leads through them so the input wires to the Rx come out the tail side. this way I don't have wires running everywhere.

For anyone out there building theirown packs, I'm thinking 2 3s 1300 gns ace in series, shortening 2 poer leads to save weight. I am wondering however, if there is a 2X3s to 6s balance adapter?

Default Cullen...

TRex888 posted this on post #51. Might give it a try myself.

Wiring details for home made 6S pack from 2x3S packs. The diagram is something I Googled. I do not use the extra wiring harness but instead join the two packs together with a pair of bullet connectors. I also leave the 2x3S to 6S balance connector on the charger to save weight. They are colour coded. Get them plugged in wrong and you puff the batts and charger (I've done that once).

Questions, just ask.

Default 4 to 6 cell

I recently converted 1 of my 450's to a 4 cell setup and loved it the added power and torque fit me really well. and as I use castle ice 50's in all my 450's I was thinking of move up to a 6 cell on one

I found this

http://www.rc711.com/shop/3dpro-next...?cPath=165_244

its a fbl trex 450pro clone BNF with a beastx
price isnt bad

reguardless you all have peeked my curiosity and now I will have to order a motor and 6cell battery just to see what the hype is about.

I have four of the Voltz 6S 1300 mAh lipos and being the right capacity and already wired up in the 6S configuration is definitely handy. I have a couple issues however.

One being that they've been out of stock for months (either that or they come in stock and sell out every time I check their website, which is almost weekly)

The second issue is that after about 60-70 cycles, two of the packs are dropping to 3.2 to 3.3 volts per cell halfway through a basic 5 minute flight according to my Castle Ice 50 logs.

I haven't taken this issue up with Ready Heli yet and they've always offered above par customer support so I don't want scare anyone away from these packs, but simply share my experience and remind people that there are plenty of other options out there for lipos especially since the Voltz 6S 1300 mAh packs are never in stock.

Looks good, and I like the wire routing for the motor/esc leads. Which batteries do you plan on using?

What do you mean by better capacitors? Which ones are you using? How much better flight times do you get with those caps?

I recently purchased their 6s motor and HW 40A ESC. I'll report back on how it runs. Hope it is easier on batteries than my 3s setup.
