Just saw the 314km/h video. Thats crazy... just crazy!
But I reckon the pics and this heli is the TDS version or am I wrong? Or is it the TDR-II with the speed canopy Jan was writing me about?

So there must be a plain TDR-II version as well, right?
Soko

The shot I was looking for. Very interesting setup. That block of aluminum is going to add done weight, but I bet its worth the trade off. And i see the Kosmik was not attached in the rear like I thought. Interested to see how Jan does that. Great pics, Sebastien! Thanks for sharing!

The pic is the TDR-II speed trainer. There will be a 3D version also, according to Oliver Jellen the only difference being skids versus the retractable gear, then the TDS.

Niiiice. I pre-ordered a TDR-II but I want it with TDR skids! Otherwise its not a TDR.
So it comes with no boom supports as well - awesome.
Don't want to know how much a boom costs though :

Ohh... And I hope the 3D version has 2 main blades!

Ollie posted on one of the threads here that the 3 blade was for speed, and the TDR will come with a 2 blade head. Three is an option, is what I've gathered elsewhere.

I'm curious if the TDR-II or TDS prototypes have flown yet. Anyone know?

Hello,

Information I have gathered:
- This is the trainer version (Work In Progress)
- The speed version has already been flown but recently exploded in the air. He decided then to work on the trainer version because he can easily work on this version by himself. For the speed version, the delay between tests is higher as he's not producing the fuselage himself.
- The trainer will be available in 2 or three blades head.
- It will be available with retractable gear or without.
- The canopy will be available in carbon or fiberglass.
- There are 300 guys waiting for the trainer version, 200 for the other version.
- The should hit the market together.
- The motor mount has been done to accept a Pyro 850 at the maximum.

Regards
Sébastien

Retracts and three head for me, after all it so different from what I have might as well go all the way.

Keep the pictures coming please, I have not drooled so much over pictures in a long time. This reminds me of my early playboy magazines

Looks like Jan has a winner!

Is that 300 TDR-II (3D + Trainer) and 200 TDS?

In my understanding 3D = Trainer. 300 Trainers and 200 TDS.

So the Trainer has:
  • 2 rotor head or optional 3 rotor head
  • fixed landing gear or optional retractable landing gear
  • fiberglass canopy or optional CF canopy
Making it all optional makes a lot of sense.

I could see people wanting or not wanting any of these features by themselves.

So what would be a plain and simple TDR-II:

- 2 rotor head
- fixed, TDR style, landing gear
- fiberglass canopy

Don't know why to go with a CF canopy on a 3D machine (I reckon it has the same shape).

I'm curious too, but do you really expect to get more than guesses at this point?

My guess is that the prices won't be final until at least the design and testing are complete.

Somehow I missed this one. That is some great detail!
You can see the belt tensioner shock/spring too.

Does anyone have a picture showing the landing gear fully retracted ?

And does anyone have a picture showing the landing gear drive mechanism?

Still curious as to how the retract mechanism works.

Are the L shaped arms that seem to hold it in place actually pushing the landing gear out and if so then it would retract forward on some kind of spring loaded mechanism? But I don"t see anything like a spring that could do that

EDIT: Forget that it can't go forward the canopy is in the way, so the l shape is more like a locking pin then?

What would make sense is that the L-shaped arm actually pushes the retracts backwards and hold it there and that the retract are spring loaded to extend on their own if the system fails

Notice in this picture the arms are not doing anything but the landing gear is extended. Which might support my hypothesis

I noticed that the is a ball link on both legs and a hole in each metal arm. I wonder if the use a link to connect. I think we are in the same boat in thinking that it appears that they may fold forward.

The more that I look at it, the more amazed I am at how compact it is. I also like the modular design. It would appear, at this point and from what I've seen, easy to convert one version to the other.

JRAY the canopy is in the way for forward retract, they must go backward as I mentioned in my previous post #58
