This is completley beleiveable.
It's in a garage where tons of flamable contaminents ari in the air. With closed windows and doors they have nowhere to disperse. It is very possible for an ingnition source, such as a burning lipo, to set off an explosion in a confined area, such as a garage.
You hear about it all the time.
He would have to store enough fuel for the entire neighborhood or have a major natural gas leak to get that kind of force... something else is the cause.

There's your explosion source, the rattle can went off in the fire. see the collection of pics

Ever thrown a rattle can into a fire? goes off like a bomb

Looks like the Astro was the ignition source. I have read of several incidents involving fires and the AF 109. Something about it sometimes selecting the wrong # of cells after 30 seconds

If the OP was looking for sunday fun. Why would he make up the story and not tell it how it "really" happened?
If I blew my stuff up, and lived, I'd be tellin you guys about it.

Whats the motive for lying on a heli website?

Evilsin, STOP yelling, we get your point man, but there has been no pics posted of a burned , puffed exploded lipo or damaged charger or equipment, just pics of a bunch of burned garbage. Looks like a lab gone bad.

I don't know, garage doors are pretty flimsy. It wouldn't take a lot of pressure to blow one out like that. I do think it would take more than a spray paint can though. There must have been some sort of vapor buildup.

WRONG.....It takes very few flamable molecules in an in closed space to create an explosion. You gotta remember, it's the rappid expansin of air created by the ignition in an enclosed space to create the explosion.
No enclosed space....no explosion.

Who's got factual information to prove to all of us that the can of paint (or whatever) couldn't contribute - or cause - the garage door to blow off?

Should we see this evidence before we hear the cries of "BS?"

I think so.

Charger was a Astro flight 109 and a blinky balancer charging at 2 amps
That is a very dangerous setup especially for charging such a large pack. If one of the cells gets out of balance the blinky can do nothing to get it back when your pumping 2 amps into the pack.

No enclosed space....no explosion.
Ever watch mythbusters, they had to saturate an enclosed room with gasoline before it would blow the walls apart... just saying, something is fishy.

Thier walls were 1/4" plexiglass held together with ties wire and tape, not a freaking structural wall. It was a little plastic box.

Arrow ...

I guess I was reacting to "Lipo Blew Up My Garage".

That implies that the lipo caused all the damage, but I suppose it could have been a chain reaction like I said in one of my first posts and like some have mentioned. I was latching on to the literal title.

In that case, it probably would have been better titled "lipo fire causes explosion in garage" or something which would have been more accurate.

If you have a bonfire and throw a paint can into it, you don't say 'the bonfire exploded' you say 'the fire caused the paint can to explode. Yeh, I'm picky.

At any rate, glad no one was hurt if its true & sorry for the loss.

Oh I agree. I could make one the same way. I guess my post was more of a "what are the chances of him using an actual airtight container" thing.

Since everyone is taking a guess at the cause I'll take a couple myself.

First I'll go with Evilsin's theory and say the lipo (or charger) fire was just the ignition source for whatever combustibles were in the air. Maybe it could have just as easily happened if the guy went into the garage and closed the door and lit a cigarette.

Second guess would be the fire ignited a spray can or some other sealed container and the garage was airtight enough for a small explosion to give big results.

There are viseos online showing that even with a vent hole, an dammo can ruptures when a large lipo goes off inside.

What is missing to me, is any evidence of fire damage from the flammable vapors igniting in the garage.

And if an ammo can, even then, it would be unlikely to blow the garage door out like that, but it would be dented and peppered with debris.
