Default Hello everyone

My first Hirobo heli, I'm told they are very nice helicopters.
Picked it up today at a garage sale for $100 Looking forward to finishing it up and flying it.
I'm thinking Jet Ranger body.

Weird, to be frank lol. One minute it's sunny, next thing you know it's pouring! And sometimes you have both at the same time.

I already test flew it as pod and boom. Had some engine related problems but got it sorted out. It's flying quite nicely, pretty responsive and powerful for a 70

Default My electric SDX

Since this thread is very quiet I thought I'd put up a few pics of my SDX converted to electric (12s using Align 600mx/510 motor and Hobbywing 70HV).

I have just made a few improvements. Swapped out the HW ESC for a Jive 80HV and using the internal BEC with a small buffer pack. This allows a better layout and a little less weight.

I was also going to convert to EP, but wanted to build a 600 size 5 bladed head. So i was thinking of building a new sdx/ep/penthead. These helos fly so good and is why i was thinking of going this path as a choice of heli. I just finnshed an hk450v2/pent as a test build and was very successful so the sdx/ep/pent is still something id do.

Dont know what it is but it is a ghost town in here. The SDX has lost its peak but not its longevity in flight and performance. I still fly everyweekend i can.

Yeah there used to be a fairly active Hirobo forum on RR but I haven't been over there in a while and I'm on here all the time for Minicopter and Henseleit stuff.

My SDX was actually my first 12s electric heli. I remember my very first flights with it on electric power and I was literally amazed, it was a total rocket! I had never experienced anything like that before coming from being all nitro and my only electrics having been 6s (Trex 500 and Outrage 550).

With the 5 blade head you may have to run on 10s or something to get it efficient enough at your target headspeed (or maybe a quite low KV motor). I wanted to go 12s so I could use batteries I already had and I opted to stay with a 10 tooth pinion and the 87 tooth delrin main gear and this is pretty good for 2000-2100 headspeed with the stock rotorhead and 600mm blades, it's still maybe a little steep gear ratio but it's close enough that everything is running cool and there's bags of power.
