Default Vbar v5.3

The new vbar firmware adds improvement of stability in high speed and governor. Interesting! Anyone tested it?

(yes there are more changes but especially these two will benefit us Henseleitians)

Quote:
Better stability at very high speeds

The high speed range has been slightly reworked. All tested helis can handle more stability in this situation, so this improves the feel in high speed.

Improved dynamic behaviour of the governor

Rapid load changes can create head speed wags and peaks. A better design of the compensation helps reducing these effects.

The page on that link is dated 6th July 2012... This new V-Bar plainly is a futuristic device...

Marcos,

I would like to know what you think. I was going to go beast x on my TDR on my next build around just to test but I would rather stay with vbar for speed. Let the testing begin.

Got a good few flights on my TDR this morning with 5.3.

Don't know if I could feel a difference or not. My last outing with it was in high winds so today with no wind it was perfectly stable and Im sure it was as stable before.

Either way it still flys awesomely

Personally I have never had an issue with pitching up or other unwanted vbar behaviour in speed flying. Maybe I am doing something wrong!

Yeah, you are flying too slow. . .

I tested my Logo yesterday. I did feel it very stable at full speed, more than before, quite confidence inspiring. Today I am testing the TDR.

Well, I flew both TDRs today and I definitely feel the difference. At very high speed the elevator is much smoother making the transition from vertical to level flight much easier.

Only regret is the wind was very calm, the real test is on a windy day against gusts. Even the normal TDR which was a bit unstable with the Matt Black could hold full collective passes which were tricky before.

I also did a 15 seconds hands off hover with the Logo, really solid.

All in all a really nice upgrade.

Marcos,
did you just do the 5.3 upgrade or did you also change to the new silver sensor?

I wonder if the 5.3 is better handling vibes or if it's only the new sensor

Imho the 5.3 is able to cut out more vib data, but the ultimate solution will be 5.3 pus the new sensor.

Just got back from the field. First flew my TDR with 5.2 as it was, then did the upgrade and flew her for three flights with the new 5.3. Must say I am impressed, how it knows how fast you fly is a mystery, but it is now super locked in and you can safely use cyclic at high speed without fear of it pitching violently.

Overall flying is smoother and it feels even more locked in if that is possible with the TDR!! Also flew my TRex 500 with the new firmware and shows an even larger improvement in overal stability, smoothness and locked in feeling. Think that the vibration rejection is the main improvement.

LOVE it!

Updated my fleet today, TDR of course, just made up T550 2 from spares, now has a Scorpion motor and 550 blades and also my Logo 500SE, looking forward to this weekend to test them all :-)

Did hover the new 550, kept about 5cm off the deck and within a 60cm paving slab for 2 mins, felt easy enough even in ground effect, wow thats stable then!
