Carefull! You are assuming the bearings are metric, they could be and probably are Imperial sized units. You will need to remove the bearing and check with a digital/dial caliper. 3.5mm is .1378" which is .0028" short of 9/64th's or .1406". Look for bearings on BOCA's site with an ID of .1378" to.1406".

Just as a matter of interest the bearings in an OBL from a Mini Titan are Imperial sized units.

For the UK-Possy you can now get the R2-5ZZ bearings here, just added today
http://www.rcbearings.co.uk/index.ph...roducts_id=635
For a whopping £0.70 each , gonna get some and change out my XL thats now done 1238 flights, seems to perform ok but i'm sure the bearings must be a little damaged by now.

Peace

All of the align bearing I saw is metric. The 430sp motor shaft size is 3.5mm so it is
not surprised that end shaft is 3.5mm. I measure the end shaft with digital caliper. It is
3.495mm so I think 3.5mm bearing should fit very well.

Default what about replacing the shaft?

Now that I know how to take the motor apart (and i am grateful for this), can the shafts be replaced? If so, where do you get them? have broken 2 shafts in the last 2 days, one in a 430X(brand new) and one in a 430XL (one month old.) I would like to salvage these, at least for spares.

Any thoughts?

I attempted the mod the other day but it did not go too good like the tutorial.

After unscrewing the motor can the opposite side of the can came off and i couldn't figure out how to get the other side off, so i had to make do with changing only the one bearing.
Anyone know how to take of the other side if you know what i mean ?

Peace

The other end is not so lucky. The shaft size is 3.5mm.
I could not find a bearing inner size is 3.5mm. Does any one
knows where I can get such a bearing? Because I don't have
replacement bearing. I did not take the original one out.
I really wish I can get such a bearing so I can replace the
other one as well. Oh well.
Could be TRex250 main axle bearings

so if these http://www.bocabearings.com/main1.as...=3155&n=R2-5ZZ are the right bearings....has anyone tried ordering this http://www.bocabearings.com/main1.as...=#99R2-5ZZ-X10 pack instead?...i mean for $.89 each in a 10 pack that's well worth having some spares!

Default Maybe it's not the bearing....

One of my 430L's has had a bad noise and a wobble at the output shaft. So, after rebuilding another 430L with good results I slipped a new set of Boca Bearings into it. But the noise and wobble remained. In fact I could move the shaft back and forth almost .5 mm. So I ordered a set of more expensive ABEC 3 bearings from Boca and put 'em in. Same result! Then I looked closely at the output shaft: right where the bearing is located the shaft itself is severely eroded (see picture below), which causes radial end play even with a new bearing.

It happens that I had another 430L motor that also needs bearings. I grabbed the rotor/output shaft from it and dropped it into the can with the ABEC 3 bearings. Now it's super smooth and I'm looking forward to flying with it in 450 SE #2.

thanks for this thread,

i just changed the bearings in my 430L, made it a lot easier having your guide to follow

unfortunately my motor is still overheating and the heli is running like diahorrea... but unless there is something else going in the motor...(don't have a clue what that could be) i can now rule out the motor (i think)..

Perhaps you have worn the motor shaft, in which case even if the effect of the replacement bearings are not very good.

I can't visibly see any play in the shaft, except the minutest amount...not even sure that I'm seeing that.

Are there any ceramic bearings available to fit the 430XL?

This is a great tip, but: this part seems like it is only available to buyers within Taiwan! I have a friend who is an Align dealer and I can't find this part on the dealers' web pages.

Has anyone tried this with a 430sp motor? I have one that I got used on a trade and it makes a loud screaching noise when it runs. I suspect that this is due to bad bearings. There is also some in and out play in the motor shaft. This could be normal but I still think the noise means the bearings are shot. So if anyone has rebuilt the 430sp do you know what size bearings I will need? Maybe post a link to some reccomended ones? Thanks

If anyone needs the wrenches to open the motor and doesn't have the means to make them yourself I will send you these for the cost of shipping (should only be a few $ in the Cont US). PM me.
I crushed the motor can very slightly with channel locks before I found this thread now it rubs and I REALLY effed it up trying to get the dent out so I'm done with this motor . Unless anyone has a can they would like to sell? Tim
