Default stupid Align paddle stickers!

Well I was getting tired of these stickers coming off and haven't decided on paddles to buy yet. So, spread a little bit of CA around the parameter of the sticker and pressed on to the paddles. Problem solved! Thought this may help somebody.

I did the same thing the weekend before last. At least it kept me flying. The problem is that fuel gets under the stickers, a problem that doesn't exist with the 600e for which the paddled were originally designed.

I bought a Monokote trim sheet and plan to make some better coverings.

The align carbon paddles are great, they make it a little quicker on cyclic and are very smooth. On top of that they look good.

I want to make my paddles match my tail blades and new canopy: all neon orange. It would be a shame (and a waste) to cover up those nice carbons.

I never even used mine as I figured the sticker wouldn't last so long on there...

I started with the Align carbons, they work well. If you want faster cyclic the Super Stubz are the way to go.

Hi all,
Just coming back to the hobby after 16 years away. I'm just about to embark on building one of these, question is do you actually need to cover the paddles? if you don't what happens?

They won't be very effective as most of the air will flow THROUGH them..

Not sure about that. I have seen a picture of MA's new 450 and it has flow though paddles. I'll try to find that photo and link it.

I wash my paddles to get rid of the mold release. warm soapy water works well
then i use an exacto to place the sticker on the paddle.

60 + flights no issues

Second that. Put them on right and they should last a long time.

I suppose a guy could cover the paddles with a little sheet of monokote - the stuff used on airplane wings. It wouldn't really be worth it, unless you had some already on hand, at $10 or more per roll, but you could match any color you wanted. Just a thought. I'd rather have cf paddles, myself, and do.

The trim sheets are less than $3. You can't see CF paddles while they spinning. I like seeing all the rotating parts, so I use white main blades and orange tail blades. Orange paddles would complete the ensemble.

I don't believe in spending money on upgrades unless you really like the bling. Unless you are down on the deck stock should work just fine.

They make heat shrink that is large enough to go over the paddles. A little heat and the problem is fixed forever. I covered a buddies in yellow and he likes them being that color. I have a set of the Align Carbons on mine but I covered the stock paddles for backup just in case. I got the heat shrink from Batteries America. It is for shrink rapping large battery packs...

I hope this helps!

Why didn't I think of that? I think Fry's may even carry some that large, although getting it in neon orange -- or any shade of orange for that matter -- may not be easy. Did he use any sort of adhesive to make sure it doesn't slide off as a result of centripetal force?

I already bought the Monokote, so I'll try that first.

Post heat shrink sleeve

Hi,

I have tested the Align carbon paddles and I think the cyclic speed of the helicopter is too slow for me.

So I have added a transparent heat shrink sleeve. This works perfect and looks great.

All the best,
Klaus

Or, you could just get the new Align carbons. They're not cool-looking carbon fiber anymore. They're a goofy looking white. I wouldn't mind painting them now.
