Check out this battery & ESC mounting plate, simple but effective!

Hi,

I want to share something with you guys. Check out this battery & mounting plate for your T-Rex 450 that a good friend of mine CNC made for us. It is simple, but very effective. I'm very happy with it.

I friend of mine asked me if I liked to have a longer battery mounting plate CNC made. At first I did not see any advantage. But we where brainstorming about it, When you mount your ESC in front, it is somewhat unhandy to mount, not easy with the wires and it does not give enough cooling. I actually wanted to mount the ESC upside down on the battery plate, but that gave some problems with the length of the battery plate, the tyrips and hook and loop tape You also have to make sure that ESC and battery do not heat each other up. So we came up with the following idea... He made it by CNC machine and did a great job. It is made of carbon and aluminium tubes, it only ways a few grams and it works great! Cees, thanks a lot!

Now if Kevin (Fireup) would ever get his super strong metal plate bracket out (almost unbreakable) that would for sure be a great combo! That small backet breaks easily in a crash and Kevin made a new stronger one that I have yet to see him break! Trust me that's saying something!!!!

Ofcourse my buddy Cees can make it stronger, by making it thicker and/-or fill up the gaps. But you have to make sure your frame doesn't brake. But anyway, do you like the design?

Swapped the stock plate for a BF carbon plate from day 1, easier to balance with different batterys. Flexible enough not to break in crashes so far.

No, sorry I don't think he is planning to. You can buy these straps seperatly, they are probrbaly for a 450. They come in different sizes. But I won't use these, I also have bigger ones.

What is the advantage of having the ESC mount under the battery tray vs mounting it on the bottom plate? With a nose in crash, the ESC could be toasted either way. I dented the capacitors of the align ESC in a nose in crash when I used to mount it on the bottom plate upfront. Now I mount my CC45 on the size.

Well, first of all it is way more easier to mount this way. You don't have to push your ESC and wires so close to the motor. And your ESC cooling ribs are facing the hole in the canopy. But the overal temperature won't be that different I guess.

By the way, if you have let's say a SportBEC you can mount that one on the bottem plate. ;-)

wpb, How about shorten the back spacers, slide the esc plate back a fuzz tap and mount on the mounting plate for more rigidity. Just a thought...

Sorry,but to me,it looks like it would break more easily . You are adding more weight to it by adding the esc to the battery weight.

Compared to the battery? I don't think so.

No problem, I understand. But ofcourse it can break easily, but not more than usual. If it breaks it will break at the battery mounting plate as with every origional battery mounting plate. If we find this to be an issue, we will make it more robust.

There is absolutly no problem with the weight, this T-Rex is perfectly in balance. As far as I can remember it is nog more than 6 grams extra total, but I can't remember for sure. Anyway, It can't be much, because it feels like nothing.
