Default Where do you fly your 700s?

Just curious about where you can. Do all of you fly in clubs/hover in backyards or do you also take it to public fields with little to no people?

My parents in law have a large farm, I fly in one of their pastures. I also have a friend with a 300 acre farm. He lets me fly over one of his fields. This is also where I go shoot.

Empty construction sites. We have a ton of them. Business parks are good too. Most have nice manicured green spaces away from everything. I toss 700s around them often.

Mostly the flying field for me. But I do not prefer it as its mostly plankers and has a treeline kind of in the way for heli flying.

Other than that I prefer to fly big helis where i grew up a couple hours away where all my family and freinds are. No shortage of open farm land there for me to choose from. I try to get up there a couple times of month and go visit from place to place getting flights in along the way. Everybody always loves to see the helis fly. And nothing better than seeing a first time spectators reaction lol. That NEVER gets old. One of my favorite things about flying.

I have been keeping an eye out for property in the area I currently live in. I'm in town now but as soon as I find the right place where I can walk out my back door and rock a 700 it's a done deal.

I have test hovered 700's in my back yard and it's a bit uncomfortable since I'm in a suburb, but I only actually fly them at a club field. We have a really good club.

I wonder if everyone is responsible or there are quite a few people who fly them in public but won't admit it.

Sounds like 450 is the right size for me. I just wanted the feeling of flying a 700 for a few minutes, thats what inspired me to ask this.

450 can cause "significant" damage...
but 700 will cause "catastrophyc" damage...

I will not accept the risk in a confined space....

Confined space, no. 30 acre pasture, yes, especially if the animals are in a different pasture. Just watch where you land!

I don't fly in public places at all, but probably 75% of my flights have someone watching, family or friends.

I normally fly at the field, but occasionally do light test flights at the at the soccer field if no one is around.

I fly it FPV sight unseen over my suburban neighborhood at night, of course.

Actually, I don't even have a 700, but who wouldn't love to do that?

I flew my 700 once at a local school at about 8pm. Was itching to fly it and it's a decent sized open space. Typically I only fly the big machines at dedicated clubs but I thought just this once would be ok. There are some houses you can see back in there and with all the surrounding buildings the blade noise was quite loud. As soon as I finished off the second flight I high tailed it out of there as I was sure someone, if not a few ppl, were probably on the phone reporting a large loud drone outside their windows. Don't mess around with 700s.....you need lots of space.

Why worry about them reporting it? It's not a drone filming houses

It's registered. It was really loud. More along the lines of disturbing the peace.

Nope not loud enough to cause that. Maybe a nitro might be more of an issue, but not electric.

Really I didn't realize you were there! As a matter of fact an unmarked cop pulled into the school and we passed each other as I was pulling away. He drove right down to the field to investigate. I wasn't going to mention that but I didn't realize I would have someone telling me what happened that wasn't even there. It was loud dude.....why would I bs you? Video doesn't capture the echo and sound of the blade noise bouncing off the buildings nearly to the extent of being there. All I'm trying to say is, if you feel the space is questionable for a 700, it probably is.

Fly my 500 at the Lutheran school up the road almost every day now that school's out, but it has huge fields on every side but one.

They have little league games at the top field sometimes but only a seasoned pro could hit anything with a scoped rifle at the distance there is between the part I fly at and the baseball diamond. Plus the huge and tall school building is between us, although I do stick to 450 or smaller when there's a game going on.

Would be a one in a billion chance of it making it over there even with a total control failure but still, any chance is too much once you get to helis that are capable of killing someone
