Thumbs up Interesting Blade 300x crash

Here's an interesting Blade 300x crash story I had to share from this past weekend.

I was up at Muncie, Indiana Futaba XFC this past weekend camping and woke up about 6am Saturday morning to fly. Instead of taking out my 500, I pulled out the Blade 300x to fly on the main flight line on the other side of XFC about 6:30am. No wind, sun just coming up, all alone on what used to be the "main flight line"... about my 4th pack in I was doing low level inverted fly by's. Started hovering very low (inches above the grass) and I'm guessing my heli got caught in my own blade wash. Tail began to spin and main blades hit and I went in inverted. I hit throttle hold and walked out to see all the messy damage. After looking through my entire heli in great detail today - low and behold the ONLY thing wrong is the main gear is stripped all to hell. Besides that, servo gears in tact (stock ones!), main shaft not bent, blades fine, everthing else fine.
Just wild that this little Stock Blade 300X took an inverted crash right into the Muncie AMA Headquarters grass and just lost the main gear.
Very durable little bird. My Trex 500 would have been destroyed.
Just thought I would share my little bit of luck.

I can't speak from personal experience, but this isn't the first time I've heard this kind of story. I've heard of at least two others where the heli went in inverted but the pilot hit TH soon enough and came out with very little damage. It makes sense in a way, in my head, but hard to put to words. The way one pilot put it, it sounds like there's less energy transfer through the main helicopter by crashing this way.

I guess the wet spring we've had in the midwest helped because the last time I flew at Muncie the ground was like brown concrete with grass growing outta the cracks.
