Hawk sport E conversion or Swift nx
I have a hawk sport that I'm thinking of converting to electric.
Would I be better off just buying the swift nx?

What kind of flying are you planning to do?

I haven't frown since last summer and I got the bug again. I am trying to learn 3D. I would say my flying type is light 3D.

I have a t450 and a 500 but I like the size of the hawk. Its hard for me to get fuel. That is the only reason I am looking at the conversion.

OK, first there is no doubt that the Swift NX, even only powered with a decent 5S system, is a much better 3D machine then your 2003 vintage Hawk Sport converted to electric. Simply because it is a lighter airframe design, it has a more precise eCCPM control system, ad a more sturdy rotor head spindle system with a thrust bearing system that makes it more comfortable at 2100 rotor speeds, while your old Sport rotor head should be kept below 1900.
That said, if you first just want to try electric without spending too much, considering that you already own your Hawk Sport, all you need to invest, to convert it, is the $40.00 for the CN1000EC conversion kit and to add the HW3180D Spacers from the Hawk Pro to the spindle, along with the harder red dampers. Noting that whatever power system you purchase for it could easily be transferred to the Swift NX if you wish to get one at a later date. Of course the extra power of a 6S system would make both even more capable 3D machines.

Having the Swift NX myself, as well as the E640, I would highly recommend the E640. It is a much more solid, robust and precise heli, you dont need to go crazy with a 12S setup, but you can later on as your skills progress.
In my opinion the Swift NX does ok but needs a little fiddling to get going (for aerobatic flying any ways), so far the E640 has been much more reliable for me, and over all a much more pleasant experience and heli to fly. The Swift though has the edge when it comes to crash costs, it is a little more suitable for beginners in that respect.

Thank you both for the good info. I think I'm going to buy the swift and slowly buy the power system. And keep flying the hawk till I get the swift ready. It's wierd the hawk is the only one of my helis that I dont crash often.
