Default Gear chatter on an E7SE

I just bought and set up a used E7SE. I equipped it with an Xera 4530-500 motor with a 13 tooth pinion, Castle edge 120 hv, torque 9180 cyclic, torque 9188 tail and AR7200BX gyro. I am running 12S with rail 716 mains and rail 106 tails at about 1950 head speed.

I'm hearing what sounds like gear chatter when using left rudder in a turn or when unloading the disc. If i increase collective or input right rudder, the noise goes away. I have adjusted the governor and tail gains down and up with no change in the noise. I have changed both spur gears and both bevel gears at the front transmission. The rear bevel gears look good.

Has anyone had this problem? Any suggestions where to look? Thank you Leon

Any signs of wear on the gear or rubbing inside the canopy?

Have some video you can share that might help us diagnose?

I had about the same problem last year, the bevel transmission gears were worn out.

Sorry it's been a while, just been trying different things and just flying. I tried lowering my gov gain in steps down to 8 with no change in the noise. I replaced the crown gears in the front transmission and rear tail box, still had, what i thought, was to much play between the gears. I bought some shims and shimmed the gears until i got all the play out of the gears and they still ran smooth. I flew the heli today 4 times and the noise was gone, even with the gov gain set at 15 on the Castle esc. I even changed the esc, not because of the noise, but because the esc was running about 190 deg on a flight. I put in an edge 160 with a fan and the temp is down to about 120 deg. Thank you guys for the help.
Leon

Did you take any pics of your gears being shimmed? I'd like to see that.

Howdy leon you can get those 6mm shims from synergy. They go on your tail shaft inside the box between the gear and the frame so the gears engage a little more. This scenario happened on my N7 with probably 300 flights but it's something that can happen out of the box. It will not fail like this but it will make a little noise.

I got my shims from Amain. I did both front and rear gears. The front gear took 5 mm shims and the rear took 6 mm shims. I bought the kyosho shims, they came in three different thicknesses, .1 mm, .2 mm and .3 mm in one package.
