I'd say go over to RCGroups and vist every subsection of what we call Model Aviation.

I can almost guarantee yo that you will find a similar whining rant about how MA never covers their part of the hobby!

What I really love is how these rants ignore how the AMA is the only organization in the USA sticking up for those of us who fly toy airplanes and heli's.

I can almost guarantee you too that I bet there were a lot of complaints from other modelers when the issue that was pretty heavy on heli's came out. "What's this, why are my dues subsidizing these stupid things?"

I'm convinced the facts are that it is only by sticking together that we will still be able enjoy this hobby.

So I say, lighten up, look at what others are doing. You can learn some things from other disciplines about stuff we are using in our heli's. Is it all 100% good info--no, not at all, but there are usually good nuggets of info there.

And if you have something interesting to contribute, write it yourself instead of whining that it will be rejected outright. Or at least don't complain about it!

Time to go get ah beer!

Nobody I bashing the AMA I don't think... Just saying the mag could havesome more heli stuff in it. Plankers have no room to talk about why we shouldn't have anymore then 2 pages, when it they have the entire rest of it, regardless of what type of plane it is. You don't see us wanting 10 pages for 3D, 10 for FAI, 10 for Reviews, 10 for tips, etc.

From the looks of it they have it split up by types of aircraft. We are just a type of aircraft. as much as I wish there were more heli related articles it does seem to be seperated rather fairly. And we do get some issues that have alot of heli coverage.

Jurassic, I'll answer.

First, my background comes from an interest in scale modeling, rc cars, and rc planes. I got in to helis by chomping on the cheap price of a Helimax Axe CPv3. On I went through the mCX s300, Novus CP, mCX2, CX3, and finally the Blade 400. I've had a subscription to RC Heli for about three years.

Second, as someone else that uses this forum put it, I "put on my big boy pants" and got what I consider to be a real model heli and bought a Trex 600. (My reason for this is to make learning easier!) Putting together this kit without the assistance of the information in the past issues of RC Heli mag would have made construction more difficult. Up until this point in my heli hobbying, the mag only really served as a reinforcement of what I was finding out about each of my "redi-made heli" purchases. The rest of what was written there was only a passing curiousity until I started to look for information on building and setting up the new heli. From here, when I reach the point where I'm doing "inverted obilque aileron elliptical rolls with one and a half twists", the info in the back issues will again be useful.

Now, actually having to set up a heli and program my DX6i has been quite the experience. To me, this is a new level of experience and achievement in this hobby This forum is an excellent source but the mag articles are arranged so I can look things up quicker. Besides, it is also interesting to keep up with the trends. Now I must also say there is a huge gap between something like MAN and RC Heli when it comes to focused useful heli information. (BTW, I am not affiliated with RC Heli mag).
