Angry 450V2 run over by 2001 Mustang

I had a friend over this weekend while working on my car and I left the heli on the edge of my rather large driveway to cool while working on the car so we could fly again a few minutes later. Inadvertently he went to move his car and ran square over the middle of the heli with the front tire (nearly missing the transmitter) then stopped on it when I started yelling..

Needless to say he's helping pay for the new frame both upper/lower and bottom plastic part, 1 servo, main/tail gears, shaft (main and feathering), ESC was crushed and broken but somehow the motor lives, flybar, tail boom, and some screws that got bent. I was really surprised that this was the only damage. I wish I would have gotten the camera while it was under the tire.. Everything else tested out ok (I say "everything" meaning the tail / head and some electronics and screws..

Luckily I pulled the FP EVO2500 batt out after flight, it would have been crushed and probably burned the heli and cost another $100.

I have/had the training wheels on since I'm not quite finished mastering nose in (close though) and the green wire all over as well as the large silver box in the nose are electroluminescent string and power supply (and they live!)

Here's what I ordered minus some spares like servo that I have,

1 x Align 220mm Flybar Rod (AGNHS1264) = $4.99
1 x Align 450V2 Main Frame Set (Black) (AGNHS1244-00) = $21.99
1 x Align Carbon Fiber Lower Frame (Black) (AGNHS1183-00) = $21.99
1 x Align 450V2 Battery Mounting Plate (3K/Black) (AGNHS1246-00) = $14.99
1 x Align Autorotation Tail Drive Gear (Blue) (AGNHS1220-84) = $6.99
1 x Castle Creations Phoenix 45 Brushless Speed Control (CSEPHX45) = $94.99
1 x Align Bottom Plate (AGNHS1124) = $7.99
1 x Align New Main Gear 150T (3) (AGNHS1219-84) = $8.99
1 x Align Landing Skid Set (Black) (AGNHS1118) = $7.99
------------------------------------------------------
Sub-Total: $190.91

At least I'm finally upgrading from the Align ESC!

I guess I no longer have to fear my first really killer crash destroying my beloved bird. Needless to say it will never be left sitting on the ground EVER again.

Mike

Now THAT is amazing! well, pretty soon you will have it fixed! Sorry that happened but that is something else.

My friend had his 450seV2 thrown across the room by his girlfriend, then, he threw her laptop!

I think I would've had the mustang have the honors.

I was at a fun fly a few years ago where an SUV ran over a rex.
I was also surprised at how well it did

Here's what's left after I checked and tested things, throwing away the junk..

Pretty sad, but I guess I should be lucky I have this much left after more than a ton of car flattening things out.

So sorry your heli got squished.
At least a crash from flying would be worth it.

Good thing your heli isn't a baby carriage.

Seriously? I was just thinking about how ridiculous it is that the friend is paying anything! I mean, come on man, you left it in the driveway.

Those were my thoughts exactly. I'm glad someone else feels that way.

Experience is something you gain only after you need it.
I wouldn't mind social media so much if it didn't involve people.

Actually it was my brother and he was flying it (I let him hover around a pack whenever he's around) just before he and I both landed right near this remote edge of a 50-60 wide open area of the driveway. So we both thought splitting the bill was pretty fair (I'm actually paying about %70 when you get down to it with my crash spares being used up)..and he was driving the car and responsible for hitting anything (he even offered to pay for all repairs), just as I am driving around. It's really just bum luck that he hit it since it's so small and the driveway is so wide there.

Sooo: Lesson learned by us both not to leave the heli or anything of value laying around on any driveway even if it's just for a few minutes.

Thanks for the condolences everyone else, I'll miss that frame (my 1st 450) .
