loosing my wheels really screwed up the method to my madness. had a hard time keeping all the minor details in my head that i wanted to post, but bottom line is shes a pipe away from a maiden

A little about the differences in the kit. As a current pantera subscriber, can build these things in my sleep. It was refreshing to get a new model, go back over all the pro tips one more time and get a lesson in current pantera amendums. overall she has the feel of different machine, but has that familliar look and easy to work on as always. The new pinion bearing block is a nice long awaited touch. love how the metal bars go from fram side to frame side now, should help keep even pressure on the bearings. The new updated tail is a nice touch, was easier to balance than any tail i've gotten from JB. The new fuel line shutoff is a nice touch, really cleans up the fuel plumbing. The part seemed better organized than i remember them being, but i also know that's always been a benefit of these kits. as usual there was plenty of hardware and the model fell together. Spent 4-5 hours doing balancing and blueprinting then another full day putting everything on, setting it up and tieing loose ends together. With a little sand paper, was able to get the runout down to .002 no mater how it was held or tightened. For something that used to be so mysterious to me sure got easy. I've found the brass collet is what is outta round, so once you id which way moves the hub favcoribly, i lightly sand the collet down till shes in range. Probably could have kept adjusting it, but felt was pressing my luck getting it this close. Now i'm not sure if i did this part with my bearing orientation or if something changed, but the gear mesh on this thing is dead nutts perfect straight off the build bench.

Without further ado, heres the porn

was planning on going, but go to the doc tomorrow morning to find out when, what and where happens to this leg thing. The scale md500 i'm building was for that event

Just had to trim the front of the fan shroud off about 3/4" down. It barely fits all around, but is in there

just realized those pics of the head show the phasing slider upside down...... just in case anybody's taking these pics as there build pics. Forgive me, i run fbl heads and am totally unfamiliar with it. The manual makes hard work of figuring out which way it goes, should have took a look at the exploded view.

Dang Steve! You painted that canopy in a couple of days?

I know you're doing the chartreuse to orange fade 1st, then the silver, but how are you making the mask for the torn look?

I don't have any special masking film or anything like, just tape. Can't figure out how to make those torn edges using tape. Even using film, how are you doing that?

Still can't believe you can crank out a canopy that looks so good that quickly. Dang!

I believe Steve works in another dimension, where 1 day here is a couple of weeks in his dimension. I look at all of the stuff he does and cannot believe the productivity. Oh, wait a minute, not another dimension, he has a couple of dozen elfs helping him.

painted it in one day, yesterday...... painted the scale red too. You should see me go with 2 good legs. I did it with vinyl masks cut on a vinyl cutter. There is a whole set laying on the floor in my room, want it for shipping cost?

Thanks guys.... head to the doc in a bit to see what he's gotta say

Replied to your pm. i rambled off all the general rules of thumb with paint. if your confused, give me a call

here is the fin set, realized you couldn't see much in the others

Got the windshield installed, went with canopy glue cause i hate cleanin the inside and i left the inner piece so you can't get to it. Also a better shot of the fins, noticed the others didn't show the leading edges much. Good looking canopy. Glow plugs and muffler bolts get in tomorrow, then will fire this thing up and see if the used motor works

I'm a dork, ordered everything i thought to make this thing fly. got it all on, muffler, push glo, glo plugs. Went to fill it up and yep, forgot to get fuel line to fill it with. Guess will try monday, was shooting for a fathers day trip to the ama field with it but i can barely bend over anymore, probably for the best.

I'm assuming you can't use the yellow gasser hose even to fill with? is whats on everything here

I think the reaction between nitro and Tygon fuel line is a slow process, not an instant thing. I think you'd be fine to use the Tygon to fill the tank with.

While on the subject of being a "dork", I arrived at the field this morning with the Pantera, the Big Stik and everything I could possibly need to make for a great day of flying.... except fot he starter wand and nobody else was flying a Nitro heli today, so no wand to borrow.

On a brighter note, I sure had a lot of fun flying the Big Stik .60. She's a great ride. Doesn't do anything exceptionally well, but is "good" at everything. I still think it's the most versatile plank ever done, with the Kadet Senior being perhaps the only other model aircraft to even think about encroaching upon the Stik's claim to best all around ride.

well, filled it with fuel, spooled it up and the rudder servo quit working. luckily found out on the ground so it really needs a set of servos all the way around.

Made sure to blow the fuel line out so nothing sits and gets that "while" to eat it

I'm pretty sure i heard the start shaft slip/spin/make that clicking sound,,, gonna need to look at that. The 90 aint no joke. thats the biggest nitro motor i've played with

Got my tail servo back from service, loaded it up with JB's Nexus HV cyclic set and finally got this motor running. the pump was giving me some trouble, but got it sorted out and slowly leaning it out, still running on curves, want to upgrade to the spektrum 7100r, but this will do for now. Grabbed a set of 620's from a lhs before the fun fly. here she is on the 7th tank now. Wanna take her to panteradise to tune the airframe. I gotta get used to flying the flybar again, it's alot of work..... i'm spoiled

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWHcgShnl6s[/ame]

The fuel lays in the tank and doesn't shake whatsoever. dial indicating the clutch to such tight tolerance is paying off huge
