Default anyone around?

I really miss this forum....I still fly my 550 as my main heli, and yes it has a flybar. I did l recently by another one that came with a skookum 360 2 axis gyro and I've just not been able to get it adjusted right. I just have a ton of drift in the tail. I've tried 2 different gyros with the same results so I think I'm going to pirate the skookum 540 off of one of my 450 helis and use it on the 550. Do any of you guys have setup files saved for this combo, the O550/Skookum 540 combo that is?

Some of us are. The O550 is still my favorite heli to fly by far. I have two in the air, three other complete air frames and a boat load of spares. Just spent another couple of hundred dollars in spares over the weekend, think that will be my last big order. When I am down to my last flyable O550 a Synergy E5 or Agile 5.5 will be going in the hangar to replace it. That should be a while off in the future however.

I have the 540 in my 450, great FBL unit. I would set it up from scratch with it set back to defaults and a clean heli model in the transmitter. The 540 is really easy to set up following the instructions in the program.

Still haven't forgiven you for getting Charlie's original O550, wish I thought about asking him about it when he was selling that stuff.

I've got 2 complete helis, a complete airframe and a lot of spare stuff too...I hope to keep an O550 in the air for the next couple years. After that who knows what might be out there....maybe I'll IM Charley and see if he had any Alees machines just laying around...

Moved the skookum 540 to the O550 and I'm really glad I did! Flys great....still need to make some adjustments but I think I'm gonna love this combo...

The 540 is a very good FBL unit, flies great on my Trex 450. Still love my TotalGs on the bigger helis. The 450 would have a TotalG also if it would fit between the frames.

I actually had this 540 on a 450 pro and couldn't get it to work very well. Always had tail trouble. I moved it to the 550 and first setup attempt worked perfect. now I need to figure out how to program the Hobbywing ESC that came on the heli. The heli flies great until I enter idle up, then it starts to shake pretty bad. I think the RPM is set too high. I can adjust it in the TX for now but I'd really like to get the thing all tweaked right.

I agree, the 540 on a 450 is a little tricky. Had to be very careful with mechanical gain and finally dial down to 250hz from 333hz to lock it in even though the servo spec called for 333hz. Could not stop the wag until I dropped to 250hz.

Ive only flown this Heli 4 times and it has already become my favorite! I now see what all you guys like about FBL controllers. Believe it or not this is my first FBL heli( I know... It's 2014...) and I'm in love. Looks like I'll be shopping for more 540's .....

I'm hoping that the SL feature of my Ikon will keep my beloved 550 flying on my limited parts supply. The SL did point out the vibration coming from the tail due to a poorly machined tail hub. The center hole was not in the center :~(. Matt

I set my Beam E4 up with a 540 when they first came out. No ptoblems at all. Flies great

Flew my ist batch OR 550 with flybar today for the first time in years... Put a hot pack in and it was like it never missed a beat..I forgot how well it flies

I've been taking both of mine out every couple of days so far and I'm just absolutely loving them both. The FBL is quite a bit snappier than the FB, but I could tweak it to be a bit more responsive. The head is set at the beginner or sport setting and I may change that someday soon. I'm getting a little braver with some different moves and it would be nice to have that extra quick response...

Question Dutch Outrage 550 help wanted!

I've bought a second hand o550 flb a few months ago.
And my flying buddies all told me I'm nuts to have bought this heli.
Because the spare parts are really scarse over here in the Netherlands.

But the heli flies great! And who cares that the spare parts are hard to come by... It is also a hobby to find the spare that are still around.
Specs of my o550:
Esc: Hobbywing platinum 80 amp (govener set to high)
Motor : Tonic X Z30a ( 1110 Kv)
Servo's : 3x Futaba bls 452 on swash
Servo tail: Savox sh 1290mg
FBL system: Beast X flybarless system v3
BEC: Castle creations Bec pro
Motor Pinion: 14
Main blades: Maniac 554mm carbon
Tail blades: align 85mm carbon
Throttle curve idle1: 52% flat curve
Throttle curve idle2: 55% flat curve
Lipo's: Robbe roxxy power Evo 6s 5000mAh 30C

But I'm annoyed that the teeth of the main gear break of very easily.
I'm using the stock plastic gears.
Does anyone have a solution for this problem? I don't want to buy some gears in the US for $7,00 and pay for $15,00 for shipping this to The Netherlands

Nice set up on that new heli. I like a set of 92mm tail blades much better than the stock 86mm blades.
One of the secrets to main gear longevity is to set it tight. Spend the time and get it to zero lash on the high point of the gear and go fly. Unfortunately the stock .7 mod gears don't take to well to reversals and other very high torque moves. The .8 mod Fusion 50 gears helped out on this but they are now virtually impossible to come by. You can still find some of the expensive cnc delrin gears however.

Then there is always this.............
