Default Which chargers use 24V

I was looking at the "Post your Charger" thread, and it showed a lot of nice charging stations. Several guys mentioned using 24V DC supplies. The chargers that I am familiar with list the DC input voltage range as 10-18V. Are folks putting more voltage into these chargers, or are there other chargers that can run with a 24V input?

Thanks,

Dan

a high power charger needs 24V to get the full charging potential out of the charger

my charger is 1000 watts at 24V but only 500 watts if i run it at 12V

They all come with an "input rating" and you have to look at that specifically for each charger because they're all different. No real rhyme or reason to it other than component choices of the manufacturer. If you're going high power, it's less work for the charger to step up the voltage if it's already at 24V. You have to more than double the amperage if you only have 12V ([P]ower = [I]Current X [E]Voltage).
