You bet. If it shows up again I'll shoot you a PM. I have a Craigslist search app on my phone that alerts me any time "helicopter" shows up in an ad. Yeah, this stuff really is a sickness.

Looking at your ergo 60, I see that it looks like your gyro is mounted on the tab forward of the 3 main servos. If that is the case, it is not parallel with the main shaft. While I am sure it will work this way ( as I have seen this before) it surely cannot be optimal.
I sold my last ergo 60 ,a while back . Check out MTA hobbies , and Helicopter world for parts. Glad to see someone interested in these old helis. I have a bunch of the ergo 30/50 , both standard MCPM and CCPM. I even have one I converted to electric !!

Hey Matt, thanks for noticing that! Guess I will relocate it under the battery tray or glue a wedge onto that tab to offset the angle. And thanks for the tips regarding parts! Good to see an ergo person on here!

I glue a wedge on mine like you mentioned above.. My local hobby shop still gets me any part I need for my JR Z 230 (gas version of the ergo 60). Actually if you ever want to convert your ergo to gas it is not that hard. So when you look for parts remember that. JR helis have a lots of parts in common like Hirobo and still available. |

Hate to bring up an old thread, but I have one of these (ergo 60 with an O.S 61) I bought a nice flight stand and never could learn to fly it. It was in perfect running and mechanical shape when parked 6 years ago. The JR transmitter broke so I hung it up until I could get a remote. Well, I never got the remote and I'm thinking it is time to sell. If you crash out I will make you a deal.

Help!
I could use some blades for mine... I was flying it 3 days ago and the fuel line ruptured in the tank... Result??? Autorotaion from 100ft with only a steep hill underneath it...Landed fine on the side of the hill but of course tipped over once the headspeed dropped. I am into HeliProz for about $150.00 so far but cannot find blades! What is everyone using now on this fun OLD Antique that I cannot seem to stay away from?

BTW, that brand new in the box one that I posted the link to a few months ago still keeps showing up on Craigslist at least once a week. He's still asking $400 but I can't imagine him not taking less, all things considered. He says the box has never been opened. If any of you did happen to be interested, either search Craigslist for Boise listings or shoot me a PM and I can shoot you a link.
Out of curiosity, what year was the Ergo 60 released?

I was just given a box of "old helicopter stuff" last night. Yep. It's a JR 60 Ergo that was put away after what I expect was a test flight many years ago. Never cleaned or had after run oil put in the motor. It is missing it's canopy too.
I'll start pulling it apart and see what I've got. If I decide to just get rid of it I'll add to this thread and let you know. Came with an old JR PCM radio too. And a big box full of I don't know what. |

FINALLY!!! I got all caught up in lots of helis and scale projects and put off the ergo reincarnation...but tonight I decided to start the thing...I actually tried to start it a month or so ago but it wouldn't fire so I gave up...turns out the fuel line in the makeshift tank I had made had slipped off the nipple. The new tank I have (thanks athmiata) worked perfectly and with very little effort the old webra 61 fired right up....it is very strong! Unfortunately it was night time when I started it and all I could do was a short hover in the driveway under the shop lights...but DAMN how exhilerating! I cannot wait until my next DAY off to tune this gal up and fly her around, after 16 years.

the gal is up!
Flew two tanks of fuel today in this antique....simple circuits but man it felt great. on the first flight the engine died at about 20 feet up...short auto down and all was fine...this heli has no tail drive in auto, kinda different lol. I jury rigged a C cell battery to an old power panel glo driver and taped it to the heli and subsequent flights were flawless...it's huge, and it floated around beautifully...my dream is finally realized after 16 years. it is amazing how far some knowledge in setting up a heli and some flight experience will carry ya lol...no more flights right into the ground! I really appreciate this forum.

As a happy owner of an Ergo 50 (still flying well), I'm very glad You see others than me taking joy in an old bird like this. The mechanical mix is nice and the overall quality of this heli is very fine. I'm about to change the stock OS 46 Max to a OS 50 Hyper atm.
Hope You get some premium airtime with that wonderfull gift. Your wife must be an angel. |

Hackamac does the os50 hyper have the same mounting holes as the 46fx? I have an ergo 50 with the 46fx and either it needs a rebuild on the engine or a different engine. I can't seem to make up my mind on whether to put more money into an old heli that parts are tough to find or just leave it on the wall and build a new one. It was my first heli so it somewhat sentimental, but on the other hand it is taking up space.

@Fairview
The 50 is a straight drop in. The stock 46 had the head cooling fins milled to fit under the fan schroud. I used a Dremel to remove a bit from the schroud instead of milling the Hyper Head. Loose the old engine and install the 50. It has a much better midrange transition and the throttle lever fits the Ergo better and is stronger (my old lever broke due to vibrations, a full throttle to the fuel is gone experience :-/ ). |
