Is it worth my money!?

So I have $ to pick up a new heli, I want something flybarless and for $500 or less... I really want the 300x but im not patient enough for that should I get the 450x? Is everyone liking it?

Only had mine for a week, but so far, I'd recommend it. Seems well designed, set up OK OOB. Flys well,but the blades could stand to be balanced, & it has a slight rearward drift in hover.Nothing a good thorough setup won't cure.

I like mine even though it's pilot has a nasty habit of imitating a lawn dart.

I would recommend balancing the blades and doing the full head set-up out of box though. It's more BARF then BNF. I did take mine right out of the box and fly it but you might find it's not 100% dialed in correctly. So you'd need a blade balancer, digital pitch guage, and a method to level the swash or the blade swash tool. All good tools cause you will need them after the crash anyways.

If you've got the space to fly, I would go for the 450x. It is super smooth.

Carbon and aluminum are overrated. Ampdraw still has them for $402, leaving plenty of room for extra battery packs, the swash tool and a bevel box still within your budget. Crashed mine, but I can say that was entirely user error... it gives you exactly what you ask for, even if that means pitching into the dirt. Response is sharp and crisp, tons of power. Worth every last cent and then some.
After this, it's going to be difficult justifying buying a smaller heli, for me.

Go for it. Mine is great so far. My blades were balanced out of the box, but I did have to redo the head setup. I had -3 degree of pitch at mid stick and an uneven pitch range. But I was already familiar with BeastX, so it was a quick and easy fix for me. I have about 25 packs through it so far with no troubles, just fun.

I understand what you mean, but I have another perspective about smaller heli's...hear me out.

I love my 450, I love the way it flies and its agility. I love how it feels locked in and respond to my very precise movements. With that said I have a very small backyard and alot of small empty lots next to the beach. Its very hard to fly my 450 in these areas and I end up flying my MCPx or SR120 till I can get to a proper field. The 120 annoys me because its fixed pitch so I have the 300x on backorder. I thought my Blade SR was the perfect size for everyday flying (if the Blade SR wasn't a complete piece of s*it). Hopefully I don't regret it

I fly my mCPXes in tighter areas... the 300X just seems like it wouldn't be that much smaller than the 450, to justify the cost. Honestly, I *MIGHT* go for the 130X as it's flybarless, brushless, and the tail is driven off the main motor by a torque tube.. it'd also be small enough for most back yards. The 300 just seems like it'd be the worst of both worlds; though not using the crappy linear actuator servos with their loose mounting points would be a big plus.
Then again, my next size-step is likely going to be building a 700.

Really though, for most flying with a back yard to stand in or residential street to take off from, I just go up a hundred feet or so with the 450. Plenty of room in the sky to buzz around, when all you really *need* is line of sight, assuming something doesn't go wrong.

For $408.00 shipped from either Ampdraw or Ultimate Hobbies it's a no brainer as far as I am concerned!! I have only three flts on mine so far, but I am alrdy in love!! The wx has been just crap since I got it delivered on Sat! If the winds were not blowing at 30kts today, I would be flying my 450X instead of browsing the boards!! LoL!!

if you look at a size comparison, the 300 is not much smaller then a 450..I couldn't imagine needing much less space for the 300

So with that in mind, bigger is better as visibility and stability play a key role to enjoyment and not crashing

I bought mine locally as well, thinking to support the LHS. They said they were going to stock the parts. That was the first week the 450x came out. Still no local parts, so my next big purchase well be online.

I think you'll like the 450x. It's good value for the money IMHO.

John Salt has an objective review or the Blade 450D and Blade 450X which might help someone trying to decide whether the Blade 450X is the right choice. http://www.rchelicopterfun.com/blade-450.html. His website and ebooks have helped me tremendously understanding this hobby.

Horizon Hobby products to include Blade helicopters are not the best overall performing products in the market. However, HH does offer above average customer service, not only with phone support 7 days/week with a live person, but with very respectable product warranty support. I have had very good experience with HH customer service. When I purchased the 450D from a different dealer, it came with a broken servo. I called HH, and they just sent me a new servo without requiring proof of purchase or other information. I knocked down my DX8 from my 4-foot high work bench onto the concrete floor, and busted several switches and the throttle stick. Not only did HH fix it free of charge, but they also took care of the shipping back to me.

Although the Blade 450X is not the best performing FBL heli in the market, when you consider all the How-To videos available for it by HH, the ready availability of parts, and low cost of maintenance and replacement parts, as well as how much fun it is to fly it, it is a great helicopter for the value.
