Default Tail setup with low head speed - need advice

I have a Mikado Logo 600SE converted into a scale MD500E with a 5 blade head. At head speeds around 1,500rpm the tail performs very well. When reduced to 1,100rpm it became very vague. Increasing gain and the size of the tail blades helped a lot but it doesn't feel as crisp as I'm used to. I'd like to increase the gearing to the tail but that is not an option with the Logo. Which tail parameters should I look at to improve the tail?

I fly my synergy E5 stretch to 625 with a sped up tail at 1300RPM sometimes to warm up and work on smoothing stuff out. I have the tail gain all the way up and started to play with stop gains. I have given into the fact that low head speed has compromises with head and tail performance and requires a flight style that accepts the performance differences. The tail is solid, just a little softer/slower.

At low headspeeds you can lose a lot of tail authority. Do you have any options to go to a 3 or 4 bladed tail?

If not, increase the gains as far as you can, and get the stop gains tuned to be as sharp as possible without any bounce back. The main goal here is to ensure its holding solidly through your moves.

Then with the gyro tuned, see what you can do to adjust the feel to get it closer to your liking. It would be worth looking at your rates and expo. With a more sluggish tail, you might be able to improve the feel by making it more responsive to your inputs.

That sounds exactly like what I have now. I just wondered if adjusting the advanced tail parameters would help.

Thanks for the input. I have looked into a multi blade tail but it is not so easy with a Logo. I don't have the rates turned down for the tail and expo is low at 15% which is how it set up for normal HS 2 bladed setup. The tail gain is up from 40 for the normal HS(1,600-1,700) 2 bladed setup to 90 now. On the other hand the cyclic is very crisp at 1,100rpm without any change to the gain.

How are the stops, are they relatively clean without bouncing back?

It would be worth experimenting with less expo, adjusting expo and the rates can have a significant effect on the feel of the model around centre stick.

Heck, if it still feels soft I would even try positive expo. Numbers mean nothing, it's all about how the model actually feels in the air.

Stops are very soft. I'll try your suggestions on expo. I already have the tail rates at 100%.
