FBL Conversion questions.
I have an old 500GF that I'm converting to flybarless and I'm currently running 3x Hitec HS-5245MG and Futaba 9257 for the tail.
I'm pretty sure the 9257 should be fine, but I know nothing of the hitecs. Any help would be much appreciated! Also, I've heard that you need stiff dampers for DFC. Are green truebloods still the go-to dampers? Last edited by HindandSeek; 08-02-2015 at 02:34 PM.. |

Yes, the truebloods will work, though I also like the KBDD orange dampeners.

Thanks!
Also, is a full KDE/helioption metal upgrade for the tail (belt) worth it? |

That is one of many pieces you'd need to do the conversion.....
I ended up using the tarot heads when I converted my 500GF to fbl... this one uses the stock 500e shaft.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tarot-500-Fl...item25900fdb23 DFC - which require the shorter dfc main shaft ... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tarot-500-DF...item3f348523d6

That I couldn't tell you. I'm still running a torque tube on my 500.

I would go with non DFC head. DFC heads are horrible on servos in the case of a crash. Also you have to pretty much run plastic dampers. Anything less will have too much movement and can cause issues.

I would prefer a FBL head against a DFC. As has been mentioned in another thread the Tarot belted metal tail unit is great and has the same quality as the Align tail. The KDE tail links are nice and shiny but flimsy, I wouldn't trust them.
