I would locate the power somewhere near Align 450MX, i.e. reasonable performance. It does run a bit hotter than the Aligns, but nowhere near as hot as the NTM 1700.

Heads up to whoever is looking for a cheap motor for 450. This is the real deal.

Cheers!
I have a turnigy 3800kv in mine. It has Assault written on it wich means it actually is a Gartt motor. Relabeling madness. The mitor was like 12 bucks and it works perfectly fine so far. I am however a beginner pilot.

Some just do run hotter than others, Scorpion motors also runs pretty hot compared to lets say Align motors...

If it gets really hot, lower timing...

I raised my HS to around 3600...(actually according to castle data-logger its 3550) and it runs much cooler. Now after a 4:30 min. flight its just warm to the touch. I didn't expect it to run "cooler" by raising head speed. I'm also not sure if its safe to run 360's @ 3600 but, so far-so good.

Ah, that's normal to... if you run to low throttle motor and esc can get hot, change pinion to lower head speed without going to low on throttle...

3600 is no problem, maybe a bit wild

ESC with AFW (active free wheeling) can handle lower throttle...

Scorpion -8 and Align's 450MX are both very solid 3s motors that have put up with tons of abuse and still run great. I have tried many motors for this size but keep coming back to these 2 for rock solid reliability on 3s.
