Default Governor gain settings - v2.0

Upgraded to v2.0 when it was first released but have only today tried it out.

The governor was working OK with the previous version but now I seem to have an issue which I am suspecting is a governor gain issue.

I have a massive tail kick when applying full power and changing up flight modes and a strange sort on noise with a less aggressive tail wag when the power and pitch is backed off.

I have reduced the governor gain down to 18 for now and turned the RV.UpDly up a few points.

How low can I go with the overall gain setting? The default value,I think was 30.
I think on the previous version I was at 6 or 8.

Helicopter is a MA Furion 6 with CC120HV.

Which mode do you have the CGY750 in HPOLE or LPOLE for the electric side of the governor? Also what is your motor pole count on the model?

It could require going to the opposite pole count as it sounds like the GOV is nice liking what is it getting from the phase sensor or possibly reacting too quickly for it's corrections. Going to LPOLE will slow down the general operation speed a little which may match your setup better.

You might try LPole. There have been a few noted incidences where even the higher pole count motors like the lower update rate.

You'll see the gains reset when you do this, I would try them in the stock configuration again in the other mode.

The OS Electric motors being one of those cases actually.

OK, thanks.
Will try this next time I'm down the field.

I tried the LPole setting today for my10 pole motor and left gain at the new default value of 10.

Better but still something going on when switching up head speeds.
I suppose dropping the gain down a bit first and then upping the RV.upDly is next.

From my personal experience.

I've modded my X5 to 12s with a bigger motor running the Cgy V2 governor. On the test flights,I stripped out 3 black main gears in a row trying to switch to idle 1. (from 1950 headspeed to 2200)

First time I thought it was a meshing issue, tightened gear mesh and the second flight took out both the main gear and the bevel gears for the tail(those were all derlin gears), upon this time I realized it was the governor trying too hard to go up the required head speed. I tried upping the Rev Up delay to 20(the max goes to 27?) and the third time the main gear lost 10 or so teeth still . It seems the revup delay is not really delaying much...

Then I realized I can do something with the Transmitter( I use futaba 14sg). In conditions menu you can have a delay on individual output channels. I set 15 delay on both THROTTLE and GOV(I think the GOV alone would be suffice, but I'm runing out of backup main gears so I wanted to be safe), the effect is when idle up is turned, the target headspeed is raised gradually, at about 1.5-2 seconds or so. delaying enough for the system to be stable.

I've confirmed this on the CGY controller too, in the Gov Basic screen where you set headspeeds from the TX, when switch from hover to IDL 1 , the targe head speed does a nice ramp up to the actual target.

This solved my stripping problem, and NO tail kick.

Does that help smooth out or slow the spool up as well?

No, the Spool up is done with the throttle curve method. I set it to 0-10-22.5-50-80, Gov engages at 35, so just about at hover pitch.

I'll have to try that thanks for the tip.
I had it at 0/25/50/50/50 and it was pretty good.
