Question Cut Quantum motor shaft too short... Now, which shaft?

I cut my brand new Quantum motor's shaft too short last week. I was informed that the Scorpion HKIII series of motor shafts are a direct fit for the Quantum motors.

Is this a direct fit for a Quantum 4135-530kv motor?
http://www.scorpionsystem.com/catalo...II_4035_Shaft/

Thanks to those who know the answer!

Yep. That's the 8mm shaft turned down to 6mm on the pinion side. From what I was told the shaft sticks out of the top of the motor about 2mm but the set screws line up perfectly.

This repair was posted on another forum. Let me try and find it so you can read for yourself.

Found it. He put the XL shaft on his quantum because the x7 has a stupidly big pinion.

The only difference is the XL shaft is 8mm longer.

Thanks dude...I was sort of hoping you actually would chime in.
This should help my sale...or I may keep it.

Pretty sure the 4530 Quantum is 8mm internally.

Is it easy to pull the motor apart after the snap ring and set screws are removed?

I haven't opened one up but the front bearing is 8mm.

I guess you have to press out the mainshaft...do you need to heat the case first?

I just use an arbor press (or drill press). No heat.

Its as easy as any other motor. You just need a firm grip on the stator and the can.

I thought the set screws did most of the shaft holding...they are just there for added assurance really. So, to Harbor freight after work I go to buy an arbor press.

I Believe the link in post #1 is for the 'XL' version which is 100mm long for counterbearing use on some helis. The one you link to is the 94.7mm version. Both will work, just depends on if you need the extra 5mm to reach a counterbearing. If you need it for a Quantum 4530 it will fit. Just as a note the regular edition Quantum 4530 has a shaft length of 102.85mm and the Goblin edition is 89.25mm.
