Default titan 50se strike

was enjoying the se today, until a boom strike happened.

was doing prio flips.

have the se dampers, red/black
mavirk g4 blades
the blades were tight, maybe not tight enough ?

could not find the tail gear box, but did get 7 ticks looking for it.

what do I need to do with my raptors so they can be flown 3d ?

I havn't been able to do tic tocs or pyro flips. I been working on backwards flight. Did you Boom strike in the air? (Did'nt think that was possible with CF blades.) I blame my servo's and my collective management although there was a guy yesterday at my club field name Ray (Hogstetter) I think was his last name "anyway" he had some mixing in the transmitter that made me think that I am holding myself back with my settup. Your obviously a better pilot than I am but wanted to chime in with my 2 cents.
Most of the people at my club give me alot of greef flying the old Raptor with a collective bar but Im a true believer in what I hear that my heli has what it takes to do Hard core 3D. Most likely It's me who hasn't figured it out

I use an extra thrust washer in the blade grips! You have to replace the dampeners often if you are really banging the sticks, about 30 flights with the SE dampeners or 80+ with the 90duro yellow dampeners from helikraft! The 90 duro dampeners from the Ely,Q Vision 50c also work. I still use the extra shims with the 90duro's!

Also check it was not a result of the boom slipping in the frames or the boom clamp slipping!

They probly never flown a raptor then. When someone sees me with one if my rappy's flying I get respect.
Yes it was in the air when it happened. Just ended first piro flip and the start of the second, then the blade chopped off the boom, never found the tail gear box.

IMO. The rap is the best machine to learn on, I will learn a new trick on my tt53 rappy, then work my way down to the os37, then the os32,
If I can do the trick with the os32 motor and it looks good, then I move onto a new trick,
I need to work on my backwards flight also .

I have the RL 53 in pieces in the box, couldn't get the tuning right, I even have a brand new 3D muffler for it, I been looking for a new piston ring for it. The group I fly with doesn't do extreme 3D and Im really wanting to do pyro flips and kaos but I can only yaw a half turn on a elevator flip I heard the yaw direction has alot to do with pyro flips but I have no one to watch at the field.
I guess more practice on the sim is my only hope..

I will try to find the 90duros, Got to rebuild the hel now, hope to find the gearbox, don't want to re buy the whole thing.

I don't like to use the simulator, but a few hours on the sim, only doing things I don't do with the real heli, makes a big difference.

I start off with half flips, usually start off inverted, then half piro flip to upright flight, easy to recover if I mess up,

On one of my last crashes, I may have used the wrong blade grips., Just noticed that the SE model has a different blade grip part number. I'm going to get the correct set this time, unless there is some reason I should get a metal blade grip..... ?

If you decide to go for metal grips the X50 ones are cheaper than the Raptor ones! You will have to get the X50 spindle and dampeners too because it is a larger Dia!

Hi,

I fly really hard, and often thought I would have a boom strike but never have in spite of my head being all plastic. I use red dampers and swear by them. Remember that a low head speed will cause blades to flex more and increase the possibility of a tail strike. For hard 3D one should be slightly above 2000 RMP head speed.

Happy flying!

well, I think my HS is at 1850 or 1900. the head was under major load at the time of strike, so head speed could have been at 1500-1700 at time of strike,
anyone else, thing I should run higher head speed ? this would not be a saftey issue ?

For sure! I run 2150 in idle up1 and 2250 in idle up2 but the ideal head speed for most is 2050 and 2150!

I run 2050 head speed and I make sure I have enough cyclic that the swash don't bind and I never had a boom strike so far.
