Great Friday. 83 registered pilots. Sky full of helis all day. Some great pots in attendance. Jamie Robertson,Nick Maxwell,Matt Botos,Marcus Kim, Ryan Robertson, Mason Damaski and many more. More arriving on Saturday. Here is forecast for rest of weekend. Should be a great Saturday.
TONIGHT/TOMORROW: Clouds return to Alabama tonight ahead of a developing storm system to the west, and the sky tomorrow will be generally cloudy. The 12Z model set shows very little rain during the day, so while I can't rule out the risk of a shower in a few spots, most of the day should be dry with a high between 67 and 70 degrees.

RAIN RETURNS TOMORROW NIGHT INTO SUNDAY: Still looks like the window for the widespread rain across Alabama will come from about midnight tomorrow night through noon Sunday. However, some rain could clearly linger into Sunday afternoon, especially over East Alabama. Some thunderstorms could be involved since there will be some surface based instability, but severe weather doesn't look likely with the higher shear values well to the east of the instability axis. SPC doesn't not show any formal severe weather for for Alabama Sunday, although the do show the low end 5 percent possibilities over the southwest part of the state.

I had a great time this past weekend at the fly-in. I was able to meet some really cool people and some phenomenal pilots.

I planned on trying to get a lot of video footage but was so busy flying my new 6HVU and just talking with everyone that I only managed to get a few. I guess I'll just have to come back next year.

Here are a couple of Jamie Robertson playing over the pond.

Thanks to everyone that made the trip to Bessemer,AL to attend the event. Ended up with 111 registered pilots. I know more there several of them had to struggle to get here due to ice and snow in the northern and midwest part of the USA.It was great seeing everyone, and Mother Nature blessed us with some beautiful weather and temperatures. Early Sunday morning about 1 AM, she said enough of the beautiful weather and the rain started. But at least she let everyone have Thursday thru Saturday of flying all they wanted to. There were many gallons of fuel used and many kilowatts of battery power exhausted over the 3 days. The socializing and comaraderie was off the chain, it was great seeing everyone renew there friendships after going thru the winter we have experienced this year. Again thanks from Birmingham Helicopter Modelers, the event will take place in 2015, same location, same weekend of March. We will try to another 20 years. <G>
