Default Help with 14sg and SBS-01G

Alright, I just got the gps yesterday. I've been trying to get this thing going with no luck. I'm using a R7003SB RX. Everything seems to be setup right. Gps has solid green light. Tx says GPS is using slots 8-15. Problem is, when I push the home button, it only shows me my RX and flight pack voltage. It doesn't show me anything else. And when I go thru the menus and go to telemetry, I'm not getting any readings from the gps.
Anyone know what the problem is?

My apologies, I believe I sent you another PM before viewing your recent-post.

Everything looks to be in-order from the screen-shots you have posted, have you Powered-up the Heli and actually been some distance from it at this point (?)

Have you tried to re-link the RX. again now that the GPS-sensor is connected (?)

Man, I'm dying over here. No Futaba support?
Well, I learned something. The gps works if the wire connecting the RX to the vbar isn't plugged in. But if the vbar is connected, it doesn't work.
Anyone with a solution???

Thanks HilliHeli for trying.

I think that you have to use the R7008SB to use the GPS and other telemetry modules. With the 7003 I think that you can only get the RX and ext voltage telemetry to work.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong as I'm planning on getting another 7008 sometime time soon just so I can use telemetry modules with it.

I hope that's not right. I just bought the r7003sb. And only chose it over the 7008 because I don't use all the extra ports. But I read up before buying it, and the 7003 is suppose to be bidirectional for telemetry like the 7008.

They both have sbus2 which supports telemetry

Right, that was my understanding also.
I have emailed Futaba, so hopefully it doesn't take too long to get a reply.

I take that the VBAR is connected to port #1 (S.Bus) and the sensor in connected to the S.Bus2 port 4 I think. Please check the R7003SB manual, make sure that the rx is in mode A.

I'll double check when I get home.

P.S. please check this update, I think this is your issue. https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=612588

Thanks Doug. You are correct in my connections. The RX is set to A.
I'm a bit pissed. I loved my Futaba radio until today when I spoke to a Futaba technician this morning. All he could tell me is It means the Vbar isn't compatible with Futaba, and the only solution is to stop using Vbar.
Wonderful customer service...

Thanks Doug for that link. I think that is the problem. I also see I'm not the only one who thinks futabas customer service is crap.
Sounds like I won't get a RX exchange thru Futaba, so I will contact the HS I purchased it from, and see if they will take care of it.
Thanks again.

I have nothing but good things to say about Futaba service here in the states. Im sure, that if there's issues with this receiver they will take care of it.

Try contacting Bill Baxter (Futaba manager) or Krista at Hobby Services.

Regards,
Doug

Thanks Doug. I will try to go thru the LHS I purchased it at first. Because like the people in the thread you posted, Futaba's only response was, that I need to stop using Vbar. I can only imagine what it's gonna be like trying to get an exchange on an RX they aren't even acknowledging has an issue. But if the LHS fails to take care of it, I will definitely contact your references.

Thanks again, you have been lots of help.

Just an update.
I didn't get to speak to Bill Baxter, but the guy I spoke to said to go thru the LHS where I purchased it, and they can exchange it thru Futaba or GreatPlanes. Talk to the LHS, who spoke with Futaba also, and says Futaba claims there are no issues, so they won't cover a replacement. So he doesn't want to exchange it for 2 reasons. 1. Because he can't return it to Futaba, and 2. Because he ordered all his 7003 at the same time, so he believes they are going to have the same issue. So he ended up switching me to the 7008 and paid the difference. Not the resolution I hoped for, but not a loss, being stuck with a RX and gps I can't use together.
No hopefully I can get some flights in tomorrow to check it out.
Thanks for the help I received here.

There is a by now pretty well known issue with the 7003sb and vbar, i would not fly with that combo.

Thanks for that info Y@nkee.
The way Futaba addresses the situation is like it's a non existent issue, which is frustrating. I went on and switched to the 7008 and haven't had any issues now. I'm seriously considering switching Radios to something other than Futaba. I feel like their tech support and customer service is by far the worst I have experienced. This time it was a $100 RX. I don't want to have to try to get some help with a problem with my $600 TX. I feel like if anything goes wrong with my 14SG, I will just be SOL.
