Generally a tail servo that is specified to run at 4.8 volts isnt going to last long at higher voltages and needs to have an additional "tail step down" regulator installed.

He means that the tail servo is rated at 4.8 volts. The 6 volt input will be 25% higher than rated input voltage for servo.

The tail servo will work, probably run quite hot, and it's life span will probably be reduced by a great margin, if run on 6 volt.

Old rule of thumb: Rated voltage, + or - 10% is what is good to run anything on. The 6 volt is +25%. See where that is going? Running at 5.2 volts will be 8.3% higher than rated voltage, but will be just fine.

May last a month, a week, a day, or even 15 minutes. No telling.

I have quite a few 8900G's in service at the moment.

I use the WR stepdown to drop the voltage from 6 to 5.2, and have not had any issues (over years and hundreds of flights).

Five or six bucks for the stepdown and you will not have to worry about the voltage.
