Default 120 LVK: how to know headspeed with governor store?

hi,

i will use the 120 lvk with my goblin 500, my dx8 and i will use governor store.

how can i determine the different (average) headspeeds in the different flying modes? how many % should i set for which headspeed? is there a calculator for this?

can i calculate the different headspeeds or is it only possible to measure the headspeed?

thanks for your help.

EDIT: it seems as if can use MrMel's headspeed calculator!?

I have yet to figure out how gov store works... whenever I got it to work on the goblin 500 the head speed was way to high.. so I just turned it off

I have the same issue with my 120lvk, the governor store at 85% is much higher in reality than the chart says it should be however the gov store on my 160hv sounds pretty close. not sure what the deal is with it on the 120, i did the set up 3 different times. i left it on but just started playing with percentages until i got where i liked how it flew and good battery life without getting bog in the last part of the flight.

Did you guys set your ESC's throttle top end point using the TX or the programming card? You should always use the TX to program the throttle end point. If you use the card, the throttle curve becomes very non-linear.

i did the stick programming on mine. i thought about messing with it more but it flies nice and holds speed pretty good and the egov on the vortex should be out in the next few months.

So there couple be a couple of instances where the headspeed calc can't take into account because:
1. It doesn't know the exact cell voltage of the lipo when the esc learned the rpm. It also doesn't know how good the lipo is. A new or near new strong lipo can give slightly higher rpms.
2. The motor's kv is a bit higher than on the spec sheet. This is quite common.

The chart actually ask for the c rating which we all know is never what they say they are good or bad but it does ask the volt per cell when you do the learning run. The kv is definitely a big crap shoot though. I don't have the equipment to test that. It's not the end of the world though, while not exact it holds very well and until the external Spartan governor is released that's all that matters to me. Once the Spartan governor is out I'll switch the yge to external mood and enjoy the setup even more.

From my understanding there is only one way to teach the esc lower head speed...
When training the gov store use a battery with less voltage(3.85 v/cell).. This way it trains the esc it doesn't have as much as it thinks....

Also.. train the esc with the blades on... BE CAUTIOUS but this creates a very large load on the motor, therefore the motor cant be pushed as fast.

I have not tried either methods, however listening to mr. mel's video these are two ways that help..
