Default Our Flybarless with the Gohbee Phazor.

Here's our Phazor conversion.

First we had to build some new arms for the main blade grips. These are the upgrade Gohbee metal blades grips. I made the new arms the old fashioned way, with a band saw, a file and a drill. Turned out pretty good for some redneck engineering, Special thanks to Jody Greer and Bobby Smith for some information before we built them. The one in my hand is the stock item. The new one places the ball 30 mm from the center of the shaft.

A top down view of the blade grips and control arms, note that we've moved it to a leading edge control arm instead of trailing edge.

A look at the overall conversion. We opted to use the Mikado swash driver (part # 4018), it's a bit pricey but a nice looking piece! No resizing was needed to work with the Gohbee balls on the swash. We used 75mm links with the stock Gohbee ball links. The M2 75 mm links are Century part # CNLR075.

The SK-360 is mounted between the frames where the gyro sensor was mounted. It was a great fit with a bit of room on each side. The USB connector is fairly easy to get to and the switch, dials and LED are very easy to access for the rear.

Initial set up of the SK-360 was much easier than I expected, had a couple of duh-huh moments but after I got past those....it was a piece of cake! First flights are tomorrow, flight reports and video will be forthcoming!

This SK-360 is a dream! First flights were great! We used the 3-D setup as a starting point. The only changes required were to increase the roll rate to 280 on the elevator and to 300 on the aileron. Made a small adjustment on the Hiller and that was all. I never thought that this could be so easy. 15 minutes total time spent on initial setup and flight adjustments.

Well done Skookum!

Here's a video of the 3rd flight with the Skookum SK-360. Lighting wasn't good but I wanted to get a video up ASAP. We'll get a better video on Monday.

Forgot to add, this is our 6S Phazor. Just installed a new CC HV-85 and we're still adjusting on it. HS for this flight was 2000 RPM.

Looking good Alan! I now have two of the sk360's one is for my G5 and the other is currently flying in my HDX500 flybarless...love the system...

I asked Art for his blessing in putting in my Bergen Turbine for IRCHA and the honest gentleman he is...asked me to hold on a little while...he thought the jump from 6 to 7 lbs helis to a 20lb $8K turbine and taking to IRCHA was a little to much jump and although he (and we) believe in the sk360...he wanted to just take baby steps and work up to a model that big...

after playing with the helicommand I bought for the Bergen...Man...do I want to put the sk360 into it...

It really is super easy to set up, isn't it!

Another bonus of the flybarless.....Wesley doesn't have to worry about dear old dad leaving the phasing ring loose!

Look forward to seeing you guys again at IRCHA.

Greg, we will feed you a couple of the SWARM Rumballs and you will have no problem getting the turbine up with SK360.
Bring Art along for some Rumballs, we'll get him to bless anything.

GA>...putting in my Bergen Turbine...

Well...spectators...jet fuel. That said, a scale flyer (Nick) has put an SK360 in his turbine-powered Hughes 500. It's crazy:

Calm scale-like flying in an open field, so that takes things half way there. They do seem to be standing kinda close, but it's not a flybarless issue really, more that the big ones make me feel like buying some body armor.

That made me think of our first Event that we came to. 3 years ago in Chattanooga. Chris was kind enough to let Wesley start his Turbine. Does that mean I can blame everything that has happened since on him?

I can't believe that we've come so far since then, what a wild ride it's been.

We've made so many good friends, traveled more than I can believe and we've had a bunch a fun along the way. Yes, life is good.

LOL...Look how small Wes is! Wow! he has grown so much since then!

although it was not with a skookum like I had hoped...I did fly the Bergen Turbine as a flybarless today...so it will be coming to IRCHA as the (as far as I know) first 3D Flybarless turbine...

See you in a week or so Alan!

Where do you guys have your gain dials set? Did you leave them at the stock recommended values and just changed the control rates?
